Yes, last year he showed more maturity which is his main issue so I think he's got a shot

He didn't really show maturity last year, supposedly being hung over at practices and stuff... but Toews said that he's starting to grow up, so...

Stats may show it...but Modano was a very complete player, especially compared to Kane. I think Kane is a great hockey player, but I don't know if he has the longevity or complete game to pass Modano. A whole lot more than stats go into a great hockey player. Also, you have to remember that Modano played in an era where you could clutch, grab, and basically pull a guy down whenever you wanted.

I think that this year will be a big one for Kaner. He has grown up and he has buffed up. He's shown maturity by showing that he cares.

Will Patrick Kane surpass Mike Modano as the greatest American born hockey player?

With guys like Roenick, Chelios, Lafontaine... out there I'm not even sure if he cracks the top ten at this point, mind you apart from points - I don't necessarily think that Modano was a better player than some of those guys. A player has to have a career first.

After looking at some LaFontaine stuff... there is also a lesson in there for guys like Marc Savard and Sid Crosby. :( LaFontaine was just starting to hit his stride when he got nailed with injuries, then started having concussion problems. 1013 points in something like 874 games... beats a guy like Modano, who, granted scored 300 some odd more points in his career (which was longer), but he also played over 500 more games than LaFontaine.

And mind, you - it is a simpler thing to keep it only limited to forwards, as with defensemen like Langway, Chelios, Housley, and Hatcher (pick one), it sort of complicates things when it gets to comparing inter-disciplinary skills.
