That seems to be the smarter router for guys who have continuous injuries like Peavy has had over the last few seasons. If he wants to extend is career and remain effective, that's probably his best option. I've never understood the whole stigma being placed on the bullpen. If you're helping your team win games and you can remain an effective player in a limited role, why not do that? Kerry Wood has turned himself into a solid relief pitcher and I'd imagine that if he would've been stubborn and wanted to keep starting games, he'd be out of the league by now.

If Peavy is OK with closing, he can do it for some other team. I'd like to see Addison Reed pan out and be the long-term closer on the South side.
