Pennies and nickels cost more to produce than they are worth.

I cleaned all the pennies and small change out of my purse the other day and it is like 5 pounds lighter. I never use them for anything and they just keep piling up in there.

I NEVER take pennies when they give me them for change at the store. Then again, I hardly ever use cash anymore either. All debit. Think of how much money we could save if we stopped producing cash currency altogether...

I am like you, the only time I ever take cash out is when I go to the bar. Other than that i just use my debit card.

I just saw somewhere on TV that banks are going to start charging more fees like on debit purchases and stuff so those fees could add up to a small fortune if you incur enough of them.

I am still a cash man and always will be. I don't trust plastic or debit after having my card information taken about 6 times. Cash also makes my package look bigger when its in my pocket. A debit card makes me look like Ken.

Hookers also don't take debit and are offended when you try and swipe.

I'm all about the jingle jangle. I love change. Carry it in my coat pocket just in case I need to throw it at something/someone.

(very paraphrased)Daniel Tosh:

I collect change in a huge jar by my door. Every day when I get home, I put whatever change I have in it. There is a bell over it. When the jar is full, the bell rings and I know it's time for my cargo pants. I put 'em on with a belt, as I want nothing to ruin cargo pants day, and I load up all the pockets with the change. I get a car alarm and strap it to my chest then walk outside and wait to be hassled by a bum panhandling. When I am, ohhh, let the good times roll!

"You got any change, mister?"

"What? Do I have any chan........YOU HIT THE JACKPOT, MOFO!!!"

Then he is all like "Call the pit boss! Call the pit boss!" and I say "Calm down smelly, it's under 600 dollars"

We have a large glass jar and all the loose change goes into it at the end of the day. Every 6-12 months we cash it out. Typically is $70-80.

I don't trust the "worth" behind paper or metal money, much less trust the availability of computer networks and financial tracking should the shit ever really hit the fan. Hell, many places can't even swipe your card because someone is sending a fax or is on the phone at the time you want to pay. I'll stick with a combination of cash and plastic for now. (And the gold buried in my yard)

We have something similiar - it's a large glass flask. We turn it in once a year. Usually get about $300 out of it.

Too bad it didn't make them worth more, can you imagine boosting our currently by making them out of more precious metals? A dime made out of gold making it worth $10.00.... instant economy boost.

They dont charge them to debit card users, they are charged to the retailers, thats why alot of ma and pa gas stations have minimum purchase amount signs (although that is illegal). Which is BS. All debit cards have done is save them money, direct deposit and debiting is reducing their need for bankers to be physically at a location. It doesnt cost them any fucking money for debit/credit transactions its a batch software process, whether they got 100 or 1billion transactions a day, these are mere bytes of data per transaction and no complex processing.

Although free checking looks like its going by the wayside, way to go banks, we bail you out and you charge us for it. Although it doesn't apply to me, chase waves the fee as long as you direct deposit at least 500 a month.

So your saying I can melt down all my pennies and nickels and then turn in a huge chunk of metal for more money than I currently had before?

Pretty sure defacing currency is a felony... but I could be wrong.

Don't listen to him. Melt it down. You'll make a mint. Record it and put it on you tube.
