Pirri/Smith/Nordstrum/Morin

Great to see these guys contributing whether its a faceoff by Pirri, a game winner by Nordstrom, or the goal yesterday by Smith.

How does everyone feel about these guys vs Kruger and Shaw. Is our depth better, or is Bolland/Frolic irreplaceable and which group has the upper hand.

Who will be the odd man out from these 5?

It is too early to truly say, but Frolik was such an animal on the PK. Over the next couple of months it will be interesting to see how the special teams continues to play.I don't think it will be Shaw just due to the grit he provided last season and into this season. But I mean Pirri just played his 1st game yesterday so I will wait a month or so to really evaluate all these guys

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Chicago State Cougars
  2. DePaul Blue Demons
  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies
  6. Northwestern Wildcats
Frolik is a big loss, Bolland and Stalberg were less significant by far down the stretch last year. Bolland had a bad year last year, seems like he's off to a good start in Toronto, Stalberg contributed 9 goals IIRC, and the speed is nice, but he wasn't anything special either.

Shaw and Kruger are locked in - they're not part of any discussion regarding who is sticking with the team - they are in. From the group of Smith/Pirri/Nordstrom - I'd say Smith and Nordstrom have the ealy lead over Pirri, but Pirri has had only one game, so too early to tell.

Looking at player changes as "replacements" is always a odd stance. It usually leads to no understanding.

Not sure what you mean by odd man out? As in who won't be active next game or regularly? It's a swap with more than just them, Bolig and Zeus aren't every game guys either.

Why must I be Saad? Via Tapatalk

Pirri scores!!!!! gotta start somewhere, good to see him working with Hossa, and winning 66% of his faceoffs 4-2 last game in limited time.

We still gotta get Morin up here, he might be the best of all of them.

I would be ok with trading Kruger/Shaw for picks for the future, and letting this youth develop some teeth, but perhaps going slow is best for them in the end. And we all know the injury bug will eventually untangle this wad of talent, and we'll go with what we have and you can't have enough depth in this league, especially a full season.

Pirri looks awesome... I really hope they keep him up...

At this point there is really no reason to send him back down...

Pirri is an offensive weapon and I hope we get to see him between Sharp and Kane on the second line real, real soon.

Now that Nordstrom has been sent down, it will be interesting to see who gets called up (unless it was just a salary cap savings move for the two game road trip). I hope Morin get's a shot. He's not a great skater but he can score and has a nasty streak which is always nice to have.

In Q's post game interview, when asked about Pirri's play, he sounded hesitant to give Pirri praise like he almost grudgingly had to say something good but wasn't going to get too effusive about it. At some point, if Pirri keeps playing well, Q is going to be forced to play the kid at the 2C spot. Let's hope it's sooner than later.

I've stated all along Pirri was offensively NHL ready. His defensive positioning in his own zone is still highly mediocre. That being said, he is better off playing on the fourth line watching Toews, Sharp and Hossa but having him sit on the PP when you saw last game he can finish with a man advantage is silly. Give him PP time and that shit hole Tampon runs right actually start to look good.

Two assists for Pirri on second line with Kane and Saad, and Morin joined the party.

If these 4 youngins and the young defenders progress all season we are looking scary deep and young. The health of

Kane/Toews/Crawford/Hossa/Sharp/Saad/Keith/Seabrooke/Bickell of course is imperitive to any playoff run. We can afford to lose probably one of those guys, and I haven't seen enough out of Pirri, Morin, Oduya, Kruger, Shaw, Smith to believe we could lose two of the core, but maybe if one of them steps way way up. Pirri and Smith right now my top candidates to elevate to core status. But a core of 9 is awesome.

I hope Pirri and Morin continue to prove their worth because each looks capable of being very good NHL players.

I think Smith's ceiling is as a 3rd/4th line role player but don't see anything wrong with that.
