This is assuming the worst case happens and that Bron/Wade/Bosh go to Miami. I think that team is about 2 years out from winning a ring due to having no center, a crap pg and a bench filled with players who should be in the CBA. I think the Bulls need to go for it it all and quick. As a backup, I make the following moves.

Sign JJ 4yr max
Trade Deng for PP 4 yr Max
Sign Dirk 4 yr Max

Go into the season going for it all with rose, jj, pp, dirk and Noah. We clearly beat the heat in 3 out of 5 postions and have the upper hand. We also have more of a bench with JJ/Gibson or can alternatively make the deng for gortat and piertus deal to add depth.

The beauty of the plan is that after 4 years, everyone will be expiring and Rose and Noah will be in their primes and have some serious playoff experience. We could retool through FA as Rose and Noah will be our major contracts on the book or we can trade Dirk/PP/JJ expiring deals for other players.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Well I don't think Boston's giving up Pierce first off. Second, I don't think Dirk leaves the Mavs. With that all said, if we could do those moves, that'd be great. I don't think the Bulls clearly win 3 positions though.
PG Rose wins clearly
SG Wade wins
SF LeBron wins
PF might be a tie, or if nothing else Dirk wins numbers wise, but Bosh is still probably better all around
C Noah since they have no C

Either way, we don't have to watch mediocre basketball anymore and we can do that rebuild thing in 4 years like you mentioned.

What?!?!

I wrote this in another thread. This is the same stuff people were saying about Boston.

If Wade, LeBron and Bosh are on the same team, they win the NBA title no question.

Crappy PG? Hell, he'll benefit from playing with those guys. We heard the same doubts about Rondo. Sure Rondo has proven he's a legit player, but the same questions were asked about him.

The heat will roll this league for the next 4 years if that happens. Don't they still have a mid-level to use too? Vets looking for that shot a a title will jump on board over the years.

IF that happens, give the trophy to Miami.

which is why, you pick up draft picks and rebuild. If the heat are going to rule the nba, rebuild around rose and noah, take on bad contracts.

Thats not logical. If we have Rose/Noah we are getting no worse than late lotto picks and people aren't going to give up top 5 picks to take bad deals.

I think PP is a bit less likely but I don't think Dirk wants to get blamed every year when he fails. I think if a really good team offered him the max he'd take it.

I don't know, Rondo was a lot better than Chalmers. Chalmers got beat out by Arroyo and they have no C. Rondo and Perkins are a lot better than anyone they will get and they won't have the mle this summer and will only get minimum guys. I don't see them winning a title the first year. The big three had Rondo and Perkins to start with and Posey, Cassell big baby and Powe off the bench. I can't see the heat having anything close to that.
