If your a gamer you dont want a plasma your system will **** that shit up... if you are not a gamer then its not as big of a deal. But there have been more problems with plasmas then leds and lcds.

there is a difference 1080 is the best pic you can get 720 is not bad but when putting them side by side you will see the diff. I am also looking at tv's and i think i may have found the one i want. I want the sharp aquois 60 inch lcd its amazing and not a horrible price.

Sharp Aquos are good TVs. I have a 32 inch 1080p (Bought it in 2007) and its been really good. My parents have a 42 inch version, just as good as mine. Of course to me they are better today, but that was the best I could get in in 2007 for that price.

As far as 1080 and 720...TV Broadcasts are pretty much all still in 720. However, Blu-ray is run off 1080p and you can get your video games on that too assuming its xbox 360 or PS3.

I too am looking for a new TV. Using it for Wii, PS3, Blue Ray and watching the Sox games on MLB.TV for a PS3 and just watching TV at night.

LCD or LED?

That's the one I got a couple of months ago. It's fantastic. Plasmas scare me with burning and needing replacement. LEDs were quite a bit more expensive, not sure if the two month interim has made much of a difference - maybe so with the SB coming up. :dunno:

I watch a lot of hockey, so when I was shopping I was really looking to see how the tvs handled quick movements. To my eyes, I saw a huge difference between the 60 and 120 htz. I did not see any difference between 120 and 240 htz that justified the price increase.

Good luck.

In my small amount of knowledge on the subject, you only really need to go 1080p if the tv is like 40+ inches. The only reason I say this is that I have a 32 inch 720p that is great for movies, gaming, and just watching, but in comparison to a 32 inch 1080p side by side, I really could not tell that much of a difference. But I'm not super picky about it.

My parents got a 40+ in. LED 1080p Sony Bravia a while back. Before that they had an off brand 32 in. LCD TV. An out of the box comparison of the two showed that the LCD had a brighter picture, but of course, we changed the settings on the Bravia to make it better (mainly just turning off the Ambient Light Sensor). Gotta say the PS3/Blu Ray looks lovely on it.

Well, I have a Blu-Ray player and a Wii...the TV will be the main TV in the house and will typically just be showing whatever we are watching (sports included)...

This is the TV I just looked at
Clothing, Toys, Electronics, Jewelry, Jaclyn Smith - Kmart.com
Only it's on sale right now for like $425...46'' for $425? lulz...someone talk me out of this.

You don't want a plasma tv for gaming because of the image burning. I'd go with LCD or LED.

I've read the new plasma's don't consider image burn an issue...

In my house, we have a 65" Panasonic TC-P65V10, great plasma.

To the poster that said gaming does work well on plasmas...I'm going to have to disagree with that ;) You just need to change the settings.

Yup, that's true.

Element 32" 1080p LCD HDTV, 60Hz - Walmart.com

As I stated before, I'm looking for a TV that will be good for late night TV'ing and watching the Sox via mlb.tv on the PS3.

Yay or nay?

shop around...but do it in the next 3 days...crazy TV sales going on right now..you want something 40''+, go w/ plasma...that's what pretty much everything I looked at pointed towards...anything smaller, LED, or LCD if funds aren't as voluptuous.
