I was at a GNR show in Pasadena back in 1987. I saw Duff and Santa Clause both get blown by the same chick on stage. That same Santa would later do a bunch of cocaine with me and my crew, get into a huge argument with one of them and I was the one that got clocked in the face for it. I'd go on, but I think Google is still watching.

That show may have been the greatest rock'n'roll moment of my life and I have Guns N Roses to thank for it. They win this in a landslide.

Crue had some really kick ass songs but their albums seemed to me to always be 2 or 3 good songs, then filler.

Is this really close?

I wasn't music conscious when Crue was the biggest band in hard rock (1984/86) but I don't see either of the two bands being even close to GNR. GNR was probably the biggest band on earth pre grunge, no?

Appetite is one of the best rock albums of all time.....You could make the argument they are the last real, authentic, don't give a fk rock band out that got huge.

Went through appreciation of both MC and GNR for a bit. Tough call on the two.
