I'm torn on the price increase.
I understand the point Major Nelson made that the price of Live hasn't been raised since 2002.
At the same time, since Live moved to the 360, Microsoft had made a lot more money through advertising, digital downloads, etc..
I honestly was expecting the price of Live to go down, not up. I was a bit surprised.
I know XBL has a better overall service than PSN, but XBL for $60 a year vs. PSN for free, PSN is a better value.
Sure PSN doesn't have things like group chat, but most of the main online features are on PSN. You can play online, you can download rosters, demos, etc.
But starting in Novemeber there's gonna be a family package which allows for 4 Gold accounts for only $99. Not sure if that has to be one household, not sure if it can be on multiple Xboxes. I have no idea. I don't know if 4 friends could chip in $25 each and get 4 accounts. I would imagine they have some way of preventing that.
