I went to a local barcade last weekend and tried out VR for the first time. I was pretty impressed at how good the PSVR actually was. Not on the level of higher end systems (which they had there too), but still really fun and pretty damn immersive. Pulled the trigger on a bundle over Black Friday / Cyber Monday as a Christmas present for the kiddos (and admittedly myself). Anyone have one or another system?

For those of you who have never experienced it, I'd just say you have to try it. Really hard to put into words how cool this shit actually is.

I have a 50.00 pair. I have never paid any sites to view anything other than their free stuff and it is all pretty cool. Even the cheap headset is worth it.

Porn is awesome too!

So do you like the Playstation VR? What games or videos do you use?

Can you please decode this or otherwise please provide subtitles for us Boomers so we know WTF you're talking about? I think it's porn-related so I'm curious.

No time to research, my land-line telephone is ringing and I'm buzzed from the chemicals emitted by the thermal-paper fax I just recieved.

I had an early devkit for the Rift. VR is fun, but like 3D movies, loses its novelty after a while and needs a fair break before it seems fresh again.

Following the logical conclusion, think how Flight Sims became big and then niche. People felt like they needed to build cockpits to really get that full experience. Whereas with VR, after it loses the fun factor, you feel like you need to dedicate an entire room and wear a whole outfit with so many sensors and accessories. Every added sensor makes you feel like you are missing something else, and every environment is lacking the software support for each new accessory. After a few games, a few demos, you'll likely be back to regular gaming.

It's virtual reality gaming or video watching.
I went on a free guided tour of Machu Pichu that was bad-ass.
I am not a gamer anymore though and never pulled the trigger on a new XBOX or Playstation so to jump right into VR(Virtual Reality) gaming seems like something that may not be for me.

But again, I bought a 50.00 pair of VR goggles and the free porn is indeed pretty cool.

I haven't gotten to use it yet. Still sitting hidden in a closet (Christmas present), and it's honestly driving me nuts. I want to mess with it.

Pretty much what @MarylandBear111 said, but I'd just reiterate that you can't really describe the level of immersion, you just have to experience it.

Are you going to get an FUFME drive while you're at it?

VR is a fun alternative, but i just can't wear the fucking headset for overly long periods.

Gotta wonder what the next big jump will be for VR, because there's no way it remains as it is now.

We will see how that goes. Right now, I'm kind of in full blown amazement mode with it. I don't see myself playing it for multiple hours at a time, I don't even do that with normal games. But I think with the variety of software and experiences out there, I think it will keep my interest for awhile. To me it doesn't seem gimmicky like 3d. It's like an entirely different medium, and really an open canvas from a development perspective. Looking forward to see how both the hardware and software continue to evolve.

Also @Crystallas , your flight sim comment is kinda funny. Because I could totally see myself combining a good racing wheel with force feedback, pedals, etc if a really solid racing VR sim comes along. I'm going to enlist @MarylandBear111 to help me weld together a frame, seat, etc to pull this project off. My wife will have to deal with a virtual car sitting in the middle of our living room.

I have seen this setup before! I was on a job and the guy had the framework of a go kart made out of 2by 4s. He had the 3 pedal assembly and a steering wheel. He said it was all for Forza motorsport game.
I was intrigued. Racing games are awesome
