We still have 2 slots, but he honestly has to be the worst DP in MLS... I saw giaco on twitter say that he counts as a DP because we got him off of transfer waivers or something, so I guess that explains it.

Well, at least nobody can complain about no DP's anymore... :lol:, we haven't had one for a little while anyway so id oubt we were going to add 3 this transfer window anyway.

Haha I just don't want to hear people say that Puppo is a DP so he should play a ton. He really doesn't impress me much

Ya, I'm going to judge him in the same mindset as before, he isn't paid like a DP after all... and even if he was Talent/Ability >>> Salary, so the argument would be invalid anyway.

Who fucked this one up? FK or whoever is in charge of bringing in and signing players (Is that also FK).

Though I guess if Pause was a DP that would explain something :troll:

They did resign him to a new contract a couple of years ago. On top of it he got a raise to 180,000+, I would call that a bad signing also. You could get somebody in the range of 50,000-70,000 to do the same kind of things that Pause does, so we are over paying 130,000-110,000.

1) Yes, Puppo is a Designated Player because we paid a transfer fee for him. That automatically makes him a DP by MLS rules.

2) Frank Klopas is the one in charge of signing players as well, but lets just say there was some.... pressure... from higher ups on this one.

3) Pause is WAY underrated. He's not a flashy player but he's a defensive mid, he doesn't need to be. He plays his position well and doesn't turn the ball over. I don't get the hate.

He is a decent player, I just think we have better options. I also think he is probably overrated, since besides Pardo, he always seems to be the one interviewed by non-Fire-run media.

He doesn't turn the ball over because 90% of his passes go backwards. I'm not asking for him to be flashy, just pick up your head and play the ball forwards and do it fast. Just look at some of the tapes of him play, his first look is backwards. Once he gets the ball look up field first (for Grazzini, Pappa and Nyarko, passing it backwards should be his last option) not always look to pass the ball backwards.

FK said that once Friedrich is healthy and Rolfe is ready to play 90 minutes he's going to play a 4-4-2 formation with 1 CDM.

Then who would you play the CDM position Pause or Pardo?

He's the captain, so he's going to be at the front of the line for interviews most of the time. Most non-Fire run media don't know a goddamn thing, so the first person they'll look for is the captain.

I'm still of the opinion that I'd rather have my defensive mid be defensive minded than offensive minded. Yes, it would be nice if Pause would move the ball up the field quicker, but I also appreciate him thinking first about not turning the ball over. But that just might be the bias of a goalie talking here.

And we don't know what FK is going to do for sure just yet. I've never known him to show his hand with ANYTHING. Plus, it's looking like Grazzini is on his way out, so that's going to alter whatever he thought his plans might be.

To answer your theoretical situation though, it's hard to go against Pardo, but that doesn't mean I think any worse of Pause than before. It's a tough, good decision to have to make. Personally, I'd rather, if Grazzini goes, have Pause/Pardo as two CDM with Nyarko/Oduro on the wings as AM.

I'm not asking him to turn up field and be our play maker, just get the ball foward to players that could do that (Nyarko, Grazzini, Pappa or even Pardo). He's reaction times are very slow, he's first tought is to play the ball backwards. By being that slow hurts our offense, just get the ball to the right players and do it fast. If all the players are covered and you have on choice then great slow it down and pass it to a defender and reset, but don't do it 90% of the times.

FK has said that once Friedrich is ready that his ideal formation is 4-4-2 with one CDM. We will see if he goes that way or not and if he does who he plays at CDM (Pause or Pardo).

So you'll have Pardo, Pause, Oduro and Nyarko as our starting midfield.
1.Who's going to be CAM?
2.Where Pappa?
3.Who's going to be the other forward with Rolfe? (That is where you would play play him).

Sorry, didn't quite specify enough.

Pappa = CAM/CF
Rolfe = ST

So a 4-5-1 formation with two defensive midfielders.

-----------------------Johnson---------------------
-Gargan--------Berry-------Friedrich-------Segares-
--------Pause-----------------------Pardo---------

-Nyarko-------------------------------------Oduro-
-----------------------Pappa----------------------

------------------------Rofle----------------------

I still think the best formation for this team is 4-4-2 with one CDM.
