For the remaining five issues of my schools newspaper, the sports editor is giving me a column to write about the Cubs. I can basically do whatever I want, but it can't be just news, stats, anything that any Cubs fan with a head on his or her shoulders would know or would be able to find on ESPN. And I've got about 400-600 words for it, so it's pretty short.

I was brain storming possible ideas that would attract more readers than I'm used to (since I covered women's basketball during the season) and came up with a few and I was hoping to get some opinions.

1. Effect of Wells and Cashner on the DL and what the realistic options are.
2. Basically rant how Colvin should be starting almost every day.
3. Basically worship Castro.

Thoughts or other suggestions?

you should do number 1, you can get pretty specific and detailed, it would make for a good article.

number 2 is ok....you can get by with that topic.

number 3 would be just dumb

it is pretty much the news right now. you can do well with an article writing about 3/5 of the rotation gone for a bit....it is probably the most important story right now or atleast something that is weighing on cub fans minds.

Yeah, I figured that one would be the most note worthy and the easiest to write. Although the only real options are the ones that will be discussed majorly, so that was my only hesitation there. I'll just have to be a little creative, haha.

I dunno why everyone's concerned with that? The games are in the middle of the day and the weather has sucked lately. As soon as it warms up the attendance will rise.

Tiger you in J-School?

Nah, I'm a Bio/Theo major. At one point I was going to go to med school for sports medicine and since my school doesn't offer anything like that, I figured just getting some exposure to the teams through journalism would be a good start, just to show my interest for my resume.

Now I'm looking to go to grad school for Theology. Probably either do something with Biblical languages or ethics.

Oh that's absolutely a cubs article...in fact, it's cubs-centric. And if anyone could ever actually explain it, would be a helluva read.

However, I don't know anyone that actually can convincingly explain it, especially no Cubs or White Sox fans, and most definitely not in 400 words - haha.
