If the Cubs keep sucking this season and get the #1 overall pick in next years draft. Do we avoid signing a type A free agent like Fielder to keep the pick. Do you think that would affect if we target a big time free agent this off season?

I'm unaware of any "Bryce Harper's" or "Steven Strausburg's" in next year's draft...but those guys never get any pub until 2 months before the draft anyway...If Fielder can be had at the right price, go for him.

CO is right on. It'll have no effect on the Cubs FA plan. They have the top 15 protected for a reason.
