I am starting this thread for people who have a question they want or need answered or as an information source for when the creation of a separate thread isn't warranted. I myself am often just curious about stuff.

My first question is if anyone on here takes martial art classes? I work close to a martial arts studio and lately have been seeing all these little nuggets dressed in different colors instead of the traditional white. I know the different color belts signify different levels, but do the different color outfits mean anything? I have seen them wearing red, royal blue and black. I know if I were taking classes I wouldn't want to wear white. I have to buy white underwear.

See my buddy is getting married in April and for some odd reason, chose me as his best man.

Now I've been the best man at one wedding and I was 14 and it was family wedding so it was less then spectacular. I made a short joke and then cheers! Now the people at this wedding know me as a person who doesn't really watch what he says, has a sense of humor and has a good time. Those are all true, I would consider myself having more of a "reactionary humor"; I come up with my jokes as the situation arises.

I have no huge fear in speaking in front of a large audience, and most of the people at the wedding will know me and I'll know them. Still, I want to deliver an awesome best man speech that's original and something people will talk about.

Anyone here have any experience with best man speeches? I'd like a bit of help with my joke writing as I seem to lack in developing them.

Thanks!

I was a best man at a wedding when I was 18. That was 10 years ago, I have a hard time remembering how I came up with what to write but I think it was something like this:

Just say a little about the 2 people and what they mean to you, then crack a joke, then exit with something along the lines of I cant think of anyone better for so and so than so and so, whether you believe it or not, i didnt and I was right, as they divorced a year later :) .

Its funny, people worry (maybe women take it personally, i dont know) about not offending people when they select a maid of honor/best man, I would never ever get offended as It doesnt bother me in the least not to have to make that commitment. I hate speaking in front of crowds and that night I gave that speech was the first time I ever got drunk in my life and it was most likely brutally obvious as I slurred my way through that debacle.

Keep it short. A couple paragraphs at most if you must. If you need help with a joke or 2, ask the subjects some questions.

My suggestion is to ask Ymono37. As the IHN reverend, and presiding over several ceremonies, he has managed to present a very tasteful ceremony injected with some laughs.

I appreciate that. Really I'm only going to go for a 5 minute speech at most and I'll throw in some sentimental-get the single ladies lookin- kind of stuff. Just wondering if anyone had a good jokes that can be used in general for any type of person. They don't even necessarily need to be true statements, I guess like a roast.

Can one of the lawyers on here tell me what that Brown family (Sister Wives) does when they file income tax? He has 4 wives now. I think the first wife is the only legal one, but still he has 13 kids and his new wife had 3 from a previous marriage. Can he count all of them as dependents? This guy just wants his cake and to eat it too. Four desserts is too much for anyone.

Yikes... and I heard ONE wife was bad enough.
