Rather develop Jimmy Clausen than draft a QB to be honest!

No matter where you stand on Jay Cutler, we have to make sure we develop the next guy right. We keep replacing coaches after 2 years and without stability we will just mess up the next guy we get. If I'm Phil Emery I will commit to Marc Tressman no materr what Cutler does and make sure Clausen knows the system like the back of his hand. If Tressman wants to open up a QB competition next year he should be free to if Cutler is a lost cause. If Clausen proves to be a better fit so be it.

May as well bring Henry Burris and Jonathan Quinn back. They're as likely to be successful as Jimmy Clausen.

As a back up. Our goal is to win games and hopefully a Superbowl so do you still wanna develop Clausen as a starter?

No.

I'm tired of the Bears not knowing how to draft and develop a franchise QB. If being a "system" quarterback (very fast decision making... decent but not needing exceptional arm or mobility) is what Trestman needs then I want a drafted QB that fits exactly what Trestman needs that will be the Bears QB for the next decade. That's how the big boys do it.

It would be nice to have an option at QB to sit Jay when he is in one of his TO streaks and throws into double triple coverage etc..But then youd need a coach with the brass balls to sit his ass no matter how much he's paid, and we don't have one on this team...

What you want is fresh meat to develop and Clausen is only 25. The best way to develop a QB is to sit and learn a system like Rodgers and Romo for a couple of years. Then hopefully hit the ground running.

That only works if you have a strong backup you can win with.

That still doesn't show that this franchise is fixed. WHY do you think Clausen is the answer? If he was the answer why is he a backup QB?

In order for this franchise to enter the 21st century it needs to show that it can handle the entire lifecycle of a quarterback. If you're proposing starting Clausen while a drafted rookie QB sits and learns - I'm open to that. But I don't want any more retreads as the Bears "solution".

Not that Clausen is the answer, but that's not a compelling argument based upon some of the puzzling personnel choices this current staff/FO have made.
