Gets a tryout with the Hawks per his agent via Burnside.

Awesome, If he plays like he did for Anaheim a Crawford and Emery would be pretty scary. Not to mention he's led a team to the Stanley Cup Finals before too.

Very solid backup option. Although it's safe to say there will be much less goalie rotation this year than in recent years, probably only in back-to-back games.

Nice. Hope he impresses and hope he's still reliable in net. If he's on his game, then he's still a heck of a netminder.

HELL YEAH!

When his head is screwed on straight this guy is a PIMP! He doesn't take any shit either. Remember him cranking LaPierre a few years back? He's the reason Hasek got sent packing from Ottawa.

Get him on a two-way deal and let him duke it out with Salak for the backup spot. That'll be a nice ace in the hole on back to back road games.

Salty! Bobby like...

  1. Arizona Wildcats
I still think Salak will win the backup spot though...

Let emery be 3rd string/rockford starter

I agree, I think Rockford needs a legit starter. If Emery is playing great then call him up. I think he gets a really good chance though out of camp

I think it will be close between salak and emery, but I would go with salak...

I'd go with whoever wins it. It should be Salak, but if not let him develope in Rockford

I'll be honest, not a big fan of this.

Ray Emery is a head case. Yes, he doesn't take sh*t, but his hot head gets him into trouble too, and in the past his focus sometimes moved away from where it should have been (on the puck) and placed on getting even. Like he lets opposing players' antics get into his head, and that is not what you need in a goalie.

Then again, maybe I'm just biased against him. I watched him develop in the AHL , and while impressed with his goaltending, was less so by his apparent willingness to scrap it up with whomever/whenever.

But then, maybe he's chilled out. ;)

He's matured, maybe he can work with Kyle Beach then :p

If he's good, then he makes our goaltending that much better.

If not, he probably won't make the team.

Don't see anything wrong with this move.
