I just went through some archives, and it seems the "big" trade in question was Prior, Hill, et al. for Tejada, Bedard et al. So we could both be right :hi5:

right because it is totally irrelevant. It is called balance. you can have a team up and down with 200 BA hitters, with 380 OBP, I wouldnt bet on that team, the team would have to rely on walking in runs, HBP runs, and an occasional Homerun. It is called balance, teams need that. So to say that BA doesnt matter is 100% ignorant.

Umm no? A team of 200/380 players would pretty much be the best offense in the league. That's getting on base a ton. They don't have to rely on walking in runs, HBP runs, or the occasional HR. They can still get hits besides homeruns. That team would absolutely rake.
