First and 2nd Mocks here.

As before here are the 44 players under contract next year.

QB - Williams, Bagent, Reed
RB - Swift, Johnson, Wheeler
WR - Moore, Odunze, Scott, Toure, Jackson
TE - Kmet, Everett, Wilson, Murray
OT - Jones, Kiran, Wright, Benedet
IOL - Bates, Glaser, Stromberg,

Edge - Sweat, Robinson, Booker, Kromah, Jones Jr
IDL - Dexter, Billings, Walker, Pickens
LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell
CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Smith
S - Byard, Brisker, Hicks, Owens

K - Santos
P - Taylor

Cuts
Everett, Walker, Bates, Byard
87.7m Cap Space and 41 roster spots

Re-Signings

Shelton - His start to the season was terrible but he has played well since so I give him a modest 2 years 7m contract

Sanborn - Think he is a solid SAM and occasionally start at MIKE and WILL so 3 years at 9m

Minimum salary signings Murray, Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, Martin
10.5 million spent
70m Cap Space and 47 roster spots

Free Agents

Zeitler- No brainer as Ben brings over an OL that knows the blocking system. Older but still good and allows us to work a rookie in. 2 years 14 million

Drew Dalman - Compete rebuild of the line by adding one of the best run blocking centers. 4 years 48 million.

Tim Patrick - Can serve as the 3rd/4th WR who knows Johnson's system. 2 years, 4 million

Dan Skipper - Another of Ben's guys that he uses as a fullback/tight end. 1 year 2 million.

Chase Young - Played for Allen this past year and had 66 pressures this year. Not a star by any means but solid player you can fit in rotation. 3 years 36 million.

Alaric Jackson - Jones had a pretty horrific injury to end his season and is a free agent in 2026 so getting Jackson protects against both. 4 years 60 million.
50m spent
20m Million Cap Space and 53 players

Draft
Traded 10 for 1st and 2nd round picks from Seatle.
1st Round - Walter Nolen - With the OL largely addressed in free agency Bears can focus a bit more on BPA and defense and they add to the interior pass rush rotation with Nolen.

2nd Round - Omarion Hampton - Part of the reason for the trade down is to pick up an extra 2nd round pick so that we can be poised to take a RB in the 2nd and Hampton excels in both the run and pass game. We know Beta Ben loves using 2 backs and Hampton is from our alma mater. Go Heels! I would be surprised if he does last this long but if not him this draft is deep with RBs.

2nd - Princely Umanmielan - While we have Sweat and Young in the fold, we need to add to the rotation and Princely is more of a pure speed rusher.

2nd Round - Donovan Jackson - While we did a good job of addressing the OL in FA, Zeitler is old so adding Jackson ensures we guard against injury and he has some versatility on the OL.

3rd Round - Rod Moore - With Byard gone and Brisker injury prone, we add a S who has the versality to play man in the slot.

5th Round - Nick Nash - Beta Ben loves to stretch the field so add a development prospect with good long speed.

6th - Jake Briningstool - The draft engines get a little wonky in their rankings so doubt he lasts this long but Bears do need a TE after cutting Everett and he has some speed to threaten the seam.

7th - Cody Simon - Allen likes to blitz so doesn't hurt adding an off ball LB that is a good blitzer. Can also get some run on STs.

7th - Tommi Hill - Adding another CB prospect to the mix
14 million spent
Cap Space 14.25 million (6 million left but with 62 players only top 51 counts against cap. So 11 x 750k = 8.25 million)
62 roster spots

QB - Williams, Bagent, Reed
RB - Swift, Johnson, Wheeler, Hampton
WR - Moore, Odunze, Scott, Toure, Jackson, Patrick, Nash
TE - Kmet, Wilson, Murray, Briningstool
OT - Jones, Kiran, Wright, Benedet, Jackson

Edge - Sweat, Robinson, Booker, Kromah, Jones Jr, Martin, Young, Umanmielen
IDL - Dexter, Billings, Pickens, Nolan
LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell, Sanborn, Simon
CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Smith, Jones, Blackwell, Hill
S - Brisker, Hicks, Owens, Moore

K - Santos

Well, Rod Moore has long been believed to be returning to Michigan so take him off the board.

If Brisker is injury prone, might as well keep Byard for another year.

Still have 14m left over so could keep him if you want but thought was to move Smith to S given Allen likes S who can cover. Also why you get Moore who is good in man.

Hasn’t the deadline to declare already pass?
Moore is a senior so doesnt need to declare by Jan 15 like underclassmen. Question is whether he uses medical redshirt or not to go back to school.

Absolutely not to chase Young. 12 mil per year for a preinjured part timer who’s hasn’t been the same since his rookie season is straight up wasting money. Wouldn’t even want him an a 1 year prove it.

Bill Murray plays TE and G?

I really like Walt Nolen. Think he’s a far better 5T than a rotational NT/3T.

Do people not believe in drafting blocking TEs anymore? Agree with cutting Everett, but Cole Kmet gets paid way too much to just be a blocker, and you focus on a late round draftee’s ability to run routes up with speed the seam. Like Kyle Moorlock from FSU or Bartholomew from Pitt better, especially if Kmet and Skipper are the short/long pass catchers.

He has played 1600 snaps the last 2 years with 140 pressures over that span. More importantly it is more about who Dennis Allen wants and he already decided to sign Chase this past year and seems to like him.

Bears signed Jordan Murray to a futures contract. I didnt opt for a blocking TE as I presumed Johnson will use Skipper in that rule. In any event it is a late round pick so no biggie if you swap out Briningstool for more of a blocker.

No.

Terrible idea to cut Byard and Walker who were good players and culture guys on the team. If they get outplayed by a new younger player that's different.

No way they add $3M more per year to the LB position and Sanborn doesn't deserve that anyway.

Not a fan of trading down from a top 10 pick only to receive one 2nd rounder in return. It would be better to take the Best OLineman or DLineman at 10.

Speaking of 2nd round.... I doubt all those players will be there.

Mock 4.0 will be better 🐻

Culture guys that oversaw a poor culture last year. In any event there is 14million left over so you can keep one lf them.

I am dumping Edmunds after 2025 so made sense to me to Sanborn since he can start.

Graham and Carter were gone and quite frankly I dont think the the OL and Edge available 10 are significantly better than those available later.

This draft isnt top heavy as only 5-7 blue chippers but it is deep. If anything I think Bears may struggle to trade down as most teams probably happy to not trade up.

Absolutely not a fan of cutting Baird for same reasons as mentioned by other posters.

As for Young, only if they have hired Dennis Allen and they are comfortable with the "inside scoop" since he spent the year with him.
Also defiantly no to 3 @ 36 million. He needs to be good with another one year prove it deal or at the very least a two year deal with a minimal dead cap if cut after year one. Until proven otherwise he seems like the classic million dollar arm ten cent head type to me.

I was hoping remydat's mock would be completely devoid of drafting any OL, and he didn't disappoint. I like the idea of trading down in the first round, and then using none of the picks on an OL. Then you might as well get rid of your leading tackler because his production can be replaced by a guy who might not ever play again. I don't see Zeitler leaving Detroit at this stage of his career, and there is no way Skipper leaves Detroit for a 1 year deal....but it seems like simply getting OLs through FA is kind of the backbone of your mock. Very strange and almost laughable. But can't wait for the next version.

Not a huge fan of several of the lines you take but there’s some cool ideas in this one, Remy.
