Saw some reports earlier and it's continued. Expecting 30% for this election...

From WGN:

Around 3:50 p.m., Chicago Board of Election officials said turnout was between 21 and 23 percent, with about 365,000 ballots cast.

Jim Allen, spokesman for the Chicago Board of Election, said turnout by mid-day was around 19 percent of registered voters. That would far trail the 33.8 percent who cast ballots in 2007 when Emanuel was first elected — a record low for a February mayoral contest.

"It appears that some voters either just disengaged or are not willing to make a decision until they know who's in the runoff, assuming there is a runoff," Allen said.

A lot more than the 365,000 that voted will be bitching about their property tax bill soon (Again).

I got out of work late and had to hit the polls late expecting a last hour clusterfudge, but it was a ghost town.

I will forgive you Chicago if you show up for the Final Showdown. Lori Lightfoot is an impressive human being...so vote for her.

I agree on L Lightfoot, talks about corruption/Barios, Burke etc. and not playing with them.

I don’t know about any candidates political leaning (don’t live in Illinois) but I think anyone wanting that job has a screw lose.

I think the whole point of the bitching is that it wouldn't make a difference who they voted for.

Interesting note, the price per vote based on campaign spending... Top 3 finishers and Fioretti (Buddy Guy donated 500,000) spent the most and was last.

L. Lightfoot 17.00

Preckwinkle 55.00

Daley. 117.00

Fioretti 150.00
