FFS, can we please get this done already?

Either these guys come back or they don't.

Campi to abitration; Stalberg up in the air atm...if your boy elects arbitration, Hawks get a second buyout period.

Campoli to arbitration... that's going to be interesting.

He really SHOULDN'T get a big number. Nothing about his stats stand out and he's just not a big name (probably doesn't count for anything but still).

But considering all the ridiculous d-man contracts that were recently signed, I'm scared to think what might come back. Granted, Campoli's numbers really don't stack up to any of the guys that got the big numbers, but it still worries me a bit.

YES!! Who says that SOFTberg is totally useless? Because he and Campoli both file for arbitration, the 2nd buyout period is ours!!

That means Olecz's 2+ million dollars is off the books.

This is probably all about labour relations - in these situations, typically an employee (in this case -the players), have a limited timeframe in order to file for arbitration -otherwise the lose that right.

In order to preserve that option; regardless of what they want of if they plan on playing hardball or signing, you would have to do it in order to use it later on -if you want to. It doesn't mean that anyone is going to arbitration at this stage- just that it can progress to that level if the player so desires.

Frolik, fwiw, isn't arbitration eligible (or so I've read).

But - it really just amounts to guys (everyone that filed) ticking a box. . . sort of like on tax returns where you have the option to be charged $3 to donate to election funds - which is simply a yes no question whether you want to spend $3 or not extra. I imagine most people tick the 'no' box ....

Unless we start wheeling, there is only room for Forlik on the roster.

Whoa. Fro is certainly not going to receive a cap hit of 5+ mil. Without Smith, Kruger, and all of our RFAs signed, the Hawks have 19 signed with 8.8 in remaining space.

Quite possibly. The same thing may help out the Rags as well.

You're right about Fro. And, in the past, arbitration here has been the kiss of death.

I'm not talking money. I am talking about roster spots. Campy and Stally don't fit anywhere on this roster at the moment.

No, you're right; those two don't. Fro still has a spot, though. Olesz is a wild card, though. Tired reading for the fail.

I was thinking Campoli would be a cheap get but with Wizzer getting five and a half and that ancient ass Jovanoski getting 4 and a quarter, among other RIDICULOUS contracts for average defenders, I'm worried he's gonna by 3+ and even forgetting The Turnover, he isn't worth it.

Stahlberg is toast. Frolik at least showed he can put the biscuit in the basket in black and red. Both of those guys have been 20 goal scorers in the league but honestly I prefer the potential of someone like Smith at this point.

My personal preference is to find a young 2nd line center so we can move Davey B to the 3 line and keep Sharp out on a wing. That said, I'd like to make an offer to Brian Boyle. He's huge, he plays both ways, and last year he finally broke out and broke the 40 point mark.

I'm for shedding Olesz and grabbing Boyle and going with this:

Smith. Toews. Kane
Sharp. Boyle. Hossa
Brunette. Bolland. Bickell
Frolik. Kruger. Whoever shows up between Beach, Morin, et al

And a D of

Keith Montador
Seabrook. Leddy. (yes break up Keith and Seabrook)
Hendry. Hjalmarsson. (gives us a stud on each of the three D lines)

I don't want to put Keith and Seabrook together and hjalmarsson with Montador leaving the two young guys flailing around together passing the puck across ice in front of Crawford. Give me one solid defender on all three pairs.

Of course we aren't gonna get a second line center, we're gonna force Sharp back inside, we're gonna probably play Olesz, and overpay Campoli. Ugh...

Were there any legs to the Hjalmarsson and Hendry for Plekanec trade rumors?

And one more thing, I've been watching the Sabres-Flyers replay and Montador looks like ass. Nothing but penalties and missed assignments. Jiminy...

Word has it Campoli is looking to top that deal by asking for $3 million per season.

The most interesting situation of the three could turn out to be Frolik. He’s not eligible for arbitration due to his service time and age but there are indications he’s asking for a huge raise. His base salary was $850,000 last year and Frolik is looking for close to $2.5 million.

Adios to both..

  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
I'd really like to keep Frolik.

So if guys get sent to Rockford, for depth reasons -then they don't count for the salary cap?

If so - what actually is a roster spot, or more specifically, what exactly does a roster sport have to do with anything at this point in the not-a-season-yet? It would seem to be irrellevant at that point.

I wonder if there was a *wink wink* handshake deal between Scotty 'Bo and the agents for Campoli and Stalberg?

I.E. Scotty 'Bo: "If your guys file for arbitration so we can get Olecz off the books, we'll send a little bit of that money your way."

Exactly. The fact that Campoli and Stalberg both filed for arbitration most likely means that they're history.

The Hawks don't generally pay those over-inflated arbitration awards. I'm fine with both Campoli and Stalberg being gone. As long as they keep Frolik.

But, the Hawks had better spend the cheddar that was earmarked for those two on someone else.

I can't see us spending more $$$ on another D-man. We had too much of our payroll sunk into Campbell, Keith, Seabrook, and Hammer last season. We got out from under Campbell's contract (for the most part) and I can't see us going right back and essentially sinking the $$$ saved on Campbell into two more D-men (Montador and Campoli).

I'm clearly confused on the arbitration rules. I've read something to the effect, twice, that because Campoli and Stalberg filed we have the ability to get rid of Olesz. How is that? If it's true I'm inclined to send both those guys, neither of whom I iike, a damned fruit basket or something.

I'm a little off on the arbitration situation. Can somebody explain to me how Campoli and Stalberg filing for arb helps us get rid of Olesz?
