HOUSTON -- Chairman of the board Tom Ricketts will make an announcement on the Chicago Cubs' future and share his view of the state of the team within the next 10 days, according to a source close to Ricketts.
Ricketts was at the team's short-season Boise franchise (Class A) on Monday and will attend major league ownership meetings the rest of the week.
While Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweeted on Monday that general manager Jim Hendry will return next year unless Ricketts changes his mind, Ricketts' personal public relations director, Dennis Cullerton, said that any reporting about the status of the Cubs front office right now is premature in nature.
Hendry has one year remaining on his contract, which was extended for four years after the 2008 season. Cullerton did confirm that Ricketts will be addressing some major issues of interest to Cubs fans very soon.
Ricketts has spent a lot of time touring the minor league affiliates in the last month. He recently traveled with vice president of player personnel Oneri Fleita through the minor leagues including Class A Peoria, Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa. Ricketts did the same thing in the summer of 2010.

Guessing this means Jimbo is staying. I suppose it's not the worst thing ever. Will be interesting to see what Ricketts' announces.
