RIP to the greatest champion of US team sports ever.
Bill Russell has died at age 88.
In a span of 16 years, he won 14 championships in 17 tries: 2 NCAA championships in 3 years at Univ of San Francisco. 11 NBA Championships in 13 years, and in that same time frame, an Olympic gold medal in his only opportunity.
While team championships were his legacy, and he played with many greats he individually won 5 NBA MVP awards as well.
A true Legend.
