Start another music thread, I need some recommendations. Honestly only know of Chuck Berry because one of his songs was in Pulp Fiction.

I'm not a big Chcuk Berry fan and only pay attention to his connection with the Stones. They recorded two of his songs in the 60s: Oh Carol and Little Queenie.

Berry was a cranky guy and not very popular among other musicians. Had a massive ego. But he was Richards first influence and Richards idolized him. He would refer to playing like Berry as "going Chuck style".

To me most of Berry's songs sound the same and by the mid 60s he was done creating anything new

I heard that Chuck was still playing rock and roll at a little club one night a week way until his late 80's. He also was a guy who demanded his money up front or he wouldn't play.

Chuck will always be a Legend for being a black man during the Civil Rights movement that had a huge hit song about his penis.

Then he made white people sing along with him on National Television.

I stayed up last night watching a lot of his videos with other great Rock and Rollers.

Pretty crazy that until yesterday Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, and Little Richard were all alive. These 50s legends outlived so many people who made their name in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
