Interesting move for them.. I was unaware that they needed another outfielder...

It makes their lineup even more dangerous, hopefully V-Mart is a shell of his former self, but as long as they don't address their bullpen needs, I'm ok with it.

yeah that lineup is a tad scary now and with us sitting on our hands so far we may be fucked.

Nah, we can't start with our "glass half empty" outlook until the end of spring training :)

true. what has me confused is that they signed peavy which in my mind made me think they will try to contend again but they have done nothing to correct 3B and they are talking about possibly moving De Aza who is cheap and can lead off just fine, Viciedo who is 23 years old and beckham (which would be sweet). I like our rotation even if they move floyd but losing AJs power numbers ( a big reason why we almost won the division) plus the addition of vmart and hunter it makes this division impossible imo.

The off-season is still young, Flowers might provide power numbers, and who knows how injuries will play out... I share your opinion still but I won't voice it until the season starts :)

I was on the Hunter bandwagon for a while hoping the Sox would sign him, but then I did the research.

.389 BABIP last year. Granted, Hunter wasn't a slouch before that year, but he isn't worth the money. He'll lose power due to age and playing in Comerica. I think we'll see the 2011 Hunter: 262/336/429 (.765) with probably >23 HR and a wRC+ of 105-110

His glove will help a lot in the spacious Comerica Park.

Not a terrible signing, but given his age and the money they gave him. Meh.

Have fun with a 39 year old outfielder at the end of your contract Detroit! :)

I do like how some of the fans that arent fans of the sox are like "zomfg hunter is going to propel them sooo farzz" .... the same fans that would say he is old and done if he came to the sox. it is so transparent.

Hunter joins a Tigers lineup that includes Austin Jackson, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez. The Tigers view Hunter as a number two hitter, Rosenthal reported yesterday. The 37-year-old figures to play right field for Detroit with Jackson in center and an internal option -- perhaps Andy Dirks or Avisail Garcia -- in left.

There is no doubt their lineup is sick and they should be the major favorites going into next year, but things can still happen. AJax has an injury history AND is very streaky. Hunter could break down. V-Mart could break down AND whose to say he will play like he did 2 years ago? Their only reliable hitters are Miggy and Prince, and they barely squeeked by this year. Plus, they haven't addressed their glaring weakness yet: bullpen.
