Bears have been here before, but never quite like this . . .

. . . Unlike the many other failed regimes of King George, this one was supposedly built by Pudge Poles the right way (albeit without an offensive line). And they got the franchise QB. And yet this today was the worst Bear game I've seen since the Trestman era - without any of Marc's charming unintentional comedy.

Yet after all that, after doing it "the right way," after all the patience and faith in Pudge Poles, this is what we have. Bears look like they need another rebuild. And Thomas Brown - whoa was that a load of McCaskey propaganda. "Leader of Men"?! The guy barely spoke all game. He just sat there on the sideline with a dead-eyed look that said "I'd rather be at home stoned, instead of here on this sideline stoned.”

This is rock bottom. Not that it won't go lower - hell, I thought the Bears were at rock-bottom after Trestman and look at the last decade. They'll go lower. But it is now clear - there is no saving this franchise. They are completely lost and have no idea what they need to do to find their way back to respectability (let alone a Super Bowl).

It's time to fire Pudge Poles. It feels like it's over . . .

Every week we say rock bottom then they prove us wrong by going deeper. They may dig all the way through to China

Thanks though to “T-Bone” Thomas Brown, the Leader of Men who stood stoic on the sidelines all day and had the Bears about as ready to play football today as a gallon of Ny-Quil. He sure commanded the sideline by saying nothing to anyone all day. Now at least we don’t have to hear the Bears try to pump up another never-will-be coordinator as their next savior. Though I’m sure King George is upset because T-Bone was ready to sign for peanuts, but I wouldn’t even give him the spent shells after that pathetic performance. Some job audition! . . .

It will be like this for years and years to come. Zero hope. Either learn to enjoy them getting humiliated or give it up.
It’s been like this for decades, except for a fluke season or two every decade. Of course it will be like this until they sell the team, and hoepfully displace the franchise.

We definitely do not need another rebuild. I don't care if Williams ends up being a complete bust of epic proportions do that and we are the blame.

We really don't have any giant contracts dragging the team down. It would serve no purpose to cut a bunch of players for a loss.
We don't know how much Poles is to blame but considering his trench talk and the lack of trenches, overly defensive drafts and FAs we can bet a lot of responsibility for the players we got was Flus. Teaching the players we got was Flus.

Most of all doing a complete Pace/Nagy the year after getting a QB again would be laughing stock levels beyond comprehension.
Fox and Trubisky, OK excuses.
Pace/Nagy and Fields, WTF?
Poles/Flus doing nothing to help Fields, getting rid of Fields, drafting the #1 QB and then repeating the cycle nobody in their right mind player, coach or FO would want to come here ever again.
May as well sell the team to a different city to have a different name at that point.

It would be a mistake to let Poles hire the next coach. New GM and coach come in at the same time. None of this arranged marriage stuff again. Nonetheless, it won’t matter because until the McCaskeys sell the team, it will be the same old song and dance.

I’ll disagree by saying this - if Pudge was giving Eberflus - Matt Eberflus! - significant input on player personnel decisions then he DEFINITELY has to go. Eberflus is one of the dumbest head coaches to ever take the field and his record bears that out.

My concern is that Poles, in neglecting the trenches, has left the team defenseless. And he’s not going to build strong trenches in one offseason. The offensive line has shown NO improvement as the season has worn on, so all of them are goners. On d-line, I don’t see much there and the Sweatster looks like a bust-out, a one-year wonder who got his money and then put his feet up. By the time Piles gets the trenches right, he’ll be out of step with the rest of the team, who areready to peak right now.

That’s player personnel. Beyond that, General Managers who preside over this type of chaos usually don’t get to stick around and try to clean it up. Because they don’t know how to, which is what got the Bears to where they are now anyway. And don’t forget the reports that Pudge apparently wanted Eberflus back this year when he should have fired him on Black Monday.

The people I’m most disappointed in today are the players. That bunch of bums were all over the media this week talking about how things are smoother and more positive and productive with Eberflus gone, and how they wanted to win for T-Bone. Then they went out and sleepwalked thru the first half. There is no excuse for the Bears’ lazy attitude today and while I blame Brown for a lot of that, these players need to look themselves in the mirror. Because no matter who the head coach is, there is no excuse for how they went about their business today. No excuse . . .

You just described an arranged marriage.
The only way the GM and HC come in at the same time is if the HC isn't picked by the GM.

But you are right, as long as it's McCaskeys or at least Virginia and her kids nothing will change.
I wouldn't be surprised if the grandkids have bought into the BS of what the team is. From what I can tell it seems spreading the BS is exactly the type of jobs they take in the org.
It would be almost nice if one of them actually got interested in the sport. At least then they'd know what it takes to win.

You kind of have to give the HC who he wants. It's his ass first. He needs his players to run his system.

Do I hear this right and you're saying The Haul instead of throwing a rookie QB in with no protection was the better move?
I sure hope we can get a 6th with a 4th conditional for him so we can rebuild.

I have said in previous post. Selling this franchise will not solve the problem. The McCaksey stench is in every brick at Halas hall and every blade of grass at Soldier Field. The only hope for a team anymore is they move out of state and become someone else’s problem and a new or different team comes here.

Things are a mess. Poles may indeed need to get fired. But I don’t think it’s hit rock bottom.

For the first time in decades I believe they have a legitimate franchise QB. So at least that’s something.

I think the stench is mostly on Chicago fans who will fight every positive change to bring this team into the modern NFL era like they were McCaskeys.
It probably does need sold to a different city with a completely different name.
