Rondo's Deal Validates the Bulls Stance on BG?

I found it very interesting today that Rajon Rondo agreed to a 5 year $55 million deal with the Celtics, after playing the hardball that he was playing. Rondo had a great season last year and had a great start to this season. He is an essential piece to this Celtics team and their only real future asset. Yet, even in this scenerio, where they have a fantastic team already in place, the Celtics were reluctant to give Rondo any more than $50 million over 5 years (their initial offer was $48).

Would you consider Rondo to be a better player than Ben Gordon? I think that many would certiantly consider him a more essential building block for a team (a legit starting PG, compared to a "sixth man") when compared to Ben. Yet he was offered the same money Gordon was by the Bulls. Does this validate maybe the Bulls stance on not wanting to increase their offer to Gordon? Or does this suggest that the Bulls were cheap SOB's for not "budging a little" on their stance.

I think that deal was good for Rondo because I don't believe in the future that type of money will be available. He is a fantastic pg, who still has some limitations...he was the best player in that Celtics/Bulls series, which isn't saying much...he is mentally a wildcard though. That is the only issue. Arenas probably would have nailed his ass too if he turns down that deal...

Rondo is kind of a mystery to me. He is a terrific pg, with a solid all-around game, but he plays for the Celtics, with 3 future HOFers. I'd love to see what he would be like on a team like say, the Kings. I see alot of J-Kidd in Rondo. He does all the little things to get his team the victory, but is not the type of guy who can carry the scoring load. Is he worth $55mill? Honestly I would say no, but I would say that about 98% of the players in this league. But for what he does & what he means to that team, it seems like the right price for his services.

I think Rondo is a good player but he has benefited from playing with the big three.

Is he better than Gordon, no.

I'd have to see how Rondo would do as the main focus of a team. I'm sure if BG played with Ray Allen, Pierce and KG his numbers would be even more deadly.

It's kinda hard to argue but I'll take Gordon over Rondo.

Rondo wouldn't be seeing $55 mill if he played for another team(most GM's in the league would have that same view), he is good, but he is a player that goes into my benefactor category, he benefits from having Pierce, Allen, KG, and now Sheed, to be honest, Rando was smart to sign this deal, the Celtics will hate this deal in 2-3 years when the Big 3 + Sheed are gone.

How does this validate the bulls stand, that is very similar to the contract BG got. It is significantly more than the bulls ever offered BG. I don't get the title?
