I know there is lots of time left before we even know if the Bears switch to a main 4-3 alignment, but if they do, do you think Roquan would be better in the middle or as the weak side backer?

they currently do not have the linebackers to switch to a 4-3 front, the majority of their time is spent in Nickel anyway so it's not that big of a deal. I think he would be better on the weakside

I mean they play 4-2-5 almost exclusively

Kind of more of a 2-4-5 with the outside 3-4 backers rotating down to "DE;" whether that's hand in the dirt or standing really doesn't make a difference as the previous coaches have basically let those guys decide what technique they wanted to use when in those roles.

But, back to the OP: I think Quan would be fine in either Will or Mike in a base 4-3. Those guys (Mikes) don't really need to be the giant Urlacher/Lewis types like they they did 10+ years ago. Smith has proven that he can shoot/stuff interior gaps and blitz from the inside, and he can obviously cover, so the skills/ability is there.

Quan can't take on blocks so he is best as the Will as there will be less blockers on him.

Finding inside LBs is not that hard. Also, could see Gipson playing a Rosy Colvin role where he is the SLB in base D and drops down to DE in nickel with Mack kicking inside as the 3T. Being able to blitz Quan and Gipson from the Will and Sam positions would allow for Eberflus to mix things up.

They don't have any depth either
