So apparently Memphis was made aware of the violation just after the NCAA tournament. What I find funny is that Calipari was "floored" when he heard of the allegations. Gimme a friggin' break! Considering how close Rose claims he was with Calipari, often going over to his house for dinners, I don't see anyway how the head coach did not know what was going on. It almost seems like the university is trying to pin this all on Rose.

An interesting question is did the Bulls know about the allegations? I don't it since they did whole marketing campaign about how Rose was perfect person. This is excusable for Memphis not to tell the Bulls about the allegations as they now look like idiots for touting him as this great character guy even though he probably is. To put positive spin on it I guess you could say its good thing that Rose cheated on the SAT since he probably would have stayed at Memphis another season.

It sounds like this was all Derrick and Reggie, with a mix of Simeon, and not really much on Memphis at all.

Who gave Reggie the money? I gotta be honest, when everyone was talking about how his brothers were watching him like a pitbull and wouldn't let anyone close to him, I had my suspicions...

His brother seems like ******. He won't let Derrick spend any of his money, Derrick basically had to beg to get his car, won't let him get new house. So where the hell is he living? In Englewood still?

No one gave Reggie any money.

What happened was Reggie flew on the team airplane. Memphis would sell spots on their team charter plane, so this type of thing wasn't all that unusual. (Flying on the plane). Reggie paid to fly on the plane on many instances. But there were other instances where he was left uncharged.

I don't know for sure, but I would venture to guess that Callipari wasn't in charge of collecting money from the people who they let ride on their team's charter.

I don't know how any reasonable person would think that Memphis had much involvement in Rose's SAT scam and grade inflation, and missing high school permanent record.

I wouldn't be surprised if Reggie was behind this whole thing. Hell, maybe he took the SAT. As for him protecting his lil bro, I have no problem with that. They didn't have a father growing up, and Reggie seems to be doing the best he can to be that father figure. But he needs to back off a bit and let his bro stand on his own now.

I'm guessing Rose has an apartment or condo close to the Berto Center. I live a couple miles away from it, and about 95% of all Bulls & Bears players live in the Northbrook, Deerfield, Highland Park area.

Reggie didn't take the SAT. What happened was Rose was too dumb to get the score required to get into his college choices, not getting the requisite score twice. The third time, he had one of his high school teammates, who is currently sitting in jail for armed robbery after dropping out of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and who is apparently smarter than Rose, take the test for him.

The score was apparently so much unusually higher than Rose's first two tests, which got the test flagged.

I doubt that his teammate (currently sitting in jail) was the brightest guy either, and I doubt his teammate hit that test out of the park, which brings up the scary though of how low did Rose actually score on his first 2 SAT's?

(Well that doesn't discount Reggie from taking the first two SAT's...but I'm going to assume Rose took them.)

It wasn't all that unusual? Then why has noone in the whole NCAA ever done this? When ESPN asked R.C. Johnson Memphis AD who else did this he couldn't come up with anything. On side note Yahoo is reporting Rose 740 to 750 on his ACT so his G.P.A. was 2.675

Who knows maybe Rose could have past this test, but to make sure they had someone else take the test

The flagged score was from the THIRD attempt at the test. Someone, presumably Derrick Rose, had already failed the test twice.

nd remember, it was the NCAA Clearing House, after looking at Rose's test scores and academic transcript, that certified Rose's eligibility to play his freshman season with the Tigers.

True, there is also the $2,260 in "extra benefits to (passage redacted) of men's basketball student-athlete (name redacted)," received in free transportation and lodging to Memphis road games. That is reported to be Derrick's brother, Reggie, who often accompanied the Tigers, and re-paid the school except for the $2,260 in question.

Is it against NCAA rules for the brother of a player to accompany the team to a road game via charter plane, or stay at the team hotel? That is to be determined, apparently. The NCAA wants Memphis to explain its policy on such matters come June 6.

Yet all this, apparently, is the proof detractors were looking for to confirm their long-held belief that Calipari operates beneath the rules.

Never mind that Rose took his (third) SAT in his hometown of Chicago before he ever reached the Memphis campus. Never mind that the person the NCAA thinks took the test for Rose was a high school teammate, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. Never mind that three players (including Rose) on that team allegedly had their grades changed to help with college admissions.

I'm not naive enough to think a college coach couldn't be involved in such a thing. But does this seem like Calipari orchestration or a Chicago inside job?

And, oh yeah, never mind that the NCAA sent a letter to Calipari stating he is not considered to be "at risk"?

Did anyone hear the representative of the 27th district on WGN 720? I only remember her last name was davis. She made a fool of herself. She was blaming everyone but rose because she believes 17 year olds are still children and don't know right from wrong! Wow!

Would I be right in assuming there is some sarcasm involved here since the highest score you can get on the ACT is a 36?

Regardless, 740-750 on the SAT is the minimum score an athlete needs to get into a college so I guess the guy did his job. I can only imagine the score that Rose got by himself...
