More media hate and Hinrich love. Why is it that no one points to the 11 point 2nd quarter the Bulls had while the Celtics went on a 20-2 run to build a big lead? I just don't understand this foolishness thats so rampant in the media.

Ben Gordon shot himself out of Chicago, right?
Ben Gordon had 33 points to lead the Bulls in Game 7, but he had one of those Ben Gordon spasms at the end where it looks like it’s about him, not the team. Whether he shot too early, whether he pulled up at the hoop, Gordon missed his last four shots in the final minute and finished 7-for-23 from the floor.
By my count, Gordon has passed up more $50 million contracts than shots, open or otherwise.
If that’s it for the Bulls and the potential free-agent shooting guard, then it seems to be a fitting snapshot. Barring a new contract with the Bulls by July 1, Gordon will be unrestricted, much like the players he is supposed to guard. If only Gordon could be as unrestricted when it comes to ball movement.
In my world, Gordon is a sixth man for the Bulls. Maybe other teams would start him. But we’ve seen that movie. We don’t like how it ends.
We’re already stuck watching the overrated, overpaid Luol Deng. That means John Salmons moves to two-guard. He’s bigger than Gordon, he cares about defense, and he willingly takes big shots. He forces shots, but not as many as Gordon. He was as cockeyed down the stretch in Game 7 as Gordon. But so far he hasn’t acted like it’s about him and getting his money.
I would have no problem with the Bulls’ bringing back Gordon for the one-year/mid-level/veteran’s/AARP/early-bird special exception, or whatever cockamamie salary slot the NBA created. But if the Bulls pay Gordon starter money, then they have to start him. If the Bulls can’t find a sucker for Deng, they’d have to trade Kirk Hinrich because the Bulls don’t want to go near the luxury tax, and that would hurt. Hinrich is one of the few Bulls who understands and executes defense, including the head coach. More on that later, but I’ve come to appreciate Hinrich more the last couple months, perhaps because he wasn’t there earlier in the season, perhaps because he’s the most well-rounded player the Bulls have.
So, if the Bulls trade Hinrich to re-sign Gordon for big money when they’re already stuck with Deng and his big money, then we need a bong intervention at the Berto Center.
