I know all these roster moves moves have been mentioned in various threads, but they may have been lost and too confusing....

Roster Moves

Over the last week or so, the Cubs have been making roster moves each and every day. It at least seems that way and more roster moves will be on the way.

*Marlon Byrd was placed on the 15 day DL: After being nailed in the face on Saturday in Boston, the Cubs placed OF Marlon Byrd on the 15 day DL with a swollen eye and facial fractures. Byrd said “he’s hopeful to return by season’s end.”

*Re-called pitcher Justin Berg: Justin Berg was re-called from Triple A Iowa. As the corresponding move in placing Byrd on the DL.

*Pitcher Matt Garza was placed on the DL: The Cubs placed pitcher Matt Garza on the 15 day DL with a bruise on his right arm. Retroactive to May 17th. Garza tried to plea his case to stay off the DL but was out numbered. This move was more for precautionary reasons. It looks he will just be on the DL for the max.

*Called OF Luis Montanez from Triple A: In the corresponding move to placing Matt Garza on the DL., the Cubs called up OF Luis Montanez. For the most part, Montanez will be taking Byrd’s spot on the roster. To add Montanez to the 40-man roster, the Cubs moved pitcher Brian Schlitter from the 15 day DL to the 60 day DL.

*Randy Wells returning Saturday: The Cubs are said to be activating pitcher Randy Wells from the DL on Saturday. Wells will take the spot of Matt Garza. The Cubs will have to send a player down in activating Wells. If I had to guess, either pitcher Justin Berg or Scott Maine will be sent down to Triple A.

*Geovany Soto returning…weekend?: Catcher Geovany Soto is also set to return and could be this weekend. He’s expected to rehab in the coming days. If all goes good, he should return very soon. The Cubs will also have to make a move in activating Soto from the DL. I have to say, Welington Castillo will be sent down.

We are only a quarter through the season and all these moves have occurred. With many more to come…

Yeah, no problem. I'm taking summer classes, so there boring and more blog posts will prolly be written up. And more posts like these. Write them hand written in class and type them up when I get home. It's way eaiser and faster.

Aramis Ramirez Injured?

Now Rami? damm this is getting sad time to just call the kids up and let them play these injures are crazy.

He always has leg problems. I dont ever get on him for not hustling. I rather him play 140 games then try to beat out 1 IF hit and get hurt for month. Pujols never runs out a weak GB. They know they worth more in lineup then on DL cause of hustling out a GB

•The Cubs don’t plan to exercise Aramis Ramirez’s $16MM option for 2012, according to Heyman.

No surprise cause of type of year he having. He would need huge June-Sept for them to change their mind

Ya, in April I was in favor of exercising the option but if he doesn't finish the season with power there is no way they can pay him that much.

I agree 100%. the only thing that is scary looking at the 3B FA to be he is the best. If he has a really nice June-SEPT maybe he be willing to sign a cheaper contract with the Cubs. I do see the Cubs giving Vitters a shot though more then anything else.

To make room for Lopez on the 40-man roster, RHP Robert Coello was designated for assignment. #Cubs
