Sources are saying that the NHL is considering removing the trapezoid and adding a hybrid icing rule.

Not sure what hybrid icing is?

The basics of hybrid icing is that it's no-touch icing, but if there is a chase for the puck the linesman can wave off the no-touch when the puck reaches the hash marks and it reverts to the old style.

As for the trapezoid, get rid of it. Goalies now just play the puck before it reaches the goal line rendering the trapezoid useless.

I agree, the trapezoid is a joke. Maybe once or twice I've seen it really matter.
