Just heard a rumor that Luol Deng and Jerome James could be traded to the Denver Nuggets for Kenyon Martin. I'm pretty sure Kenyon's contract expires at the end of the season or he has some early termination.

Where'd you hear that rumor at?

They've been wrong 100% of the time so far so I wouldn't put much stock into it but it's something to think about. At this point, any expiring for Deng is a good deal.

In the long run it would be good but for the short run it would be horrid. We would be losing a 18-20 ppg player while also losing BGs 20 ppg.

Martin is trash, but we're really talking about Deng's deal for an ending, which is an all-in 2010 kind of move. Ultimately, it depends on how you value Deng and/or his health. If you have serious doubts he can be a third or maybe four piece of the winning puzzle, you never do this. If you have doubts, you can't wait to pull the trigger. This season would certainly be trash without him, but if we can make good on the cap room, it's a long-term plus. As a fan, I want to see Deng get the chance to prove himself; as a pragmatist, I can understand the move.

Alas, it's sportsunplugged, so it's probably not worth discussing.

I sure as hell wouldn't be. If giving up Deng means we could sign 2 top FA's in 2010 then you make this deal.

It'd push our cap space to around $26 million I believe, enough for 1 max guy, and then another guy for less than the max.

If we trade Kirk too, we could sign 2 max guys.

Obviously, I don't expect this trade to happen, but I agree that if this or a similar Deng deal is done this year, the reason why is to try to squeeze out room for two max guys or one and another 10 mil guy.

We're stuck with Deng and Hinrich no matter how bad they perform. All rumored deals involving those two should be ignored.

I hope so, i am not willing to give up on 2009-2010 just for a small shot at the 2010 class.

I anxiously await the day that there's no more twitter. Nothing but bunk rumors & moronic postings by athletes with a 6th grade education level.

It makes no sense, we wouldn't be able to sign a max fa if we made this deal.

I actually like twitter. Just have to be selective with who you are keeping track of.

Guys like Sam Smith and Mark Cuban offer some very interesting tidbits.

On the other hand reading about Tyrus dropping a deuce or Shaq continuing his shameless and Favre like desperate need for attention do not.

His contract goes 1 more year after this one.

Martin makes 16.5 million in 2010 which means not only would we not sign 2 guys, we'd no longer have room for even 1.

Yeah, I saw when looking at the salaries, that Martin has a player option for next year. It seems as though we're no longer in the era of players passing up massive player options when they're due for a massive pay cut, so it's almost a certainty that Kenyon Martin opts in, since I don't see him having a monster year next season.

With that, this trade rumor is absolutely crazy. ZERO CHANCE of happening. Not even sure why'd they throw that type of crap against the wall. They obviously thought it was such a poor made up rumor to throw up, that they took down the original tweet fast.

Friends, we need to be able to dis certain when something is news or complete bulls#$%. No way this deal happens, we would be loosing our 2010 cap space on Kenyon Martin! Thats a joke! Nuggets can "inquire" all day.

Also, personally i'd be a little scared to loose Deng now, even if it was an expiring deal. Lets not forget, odds of us landing 1 player next year are not high, let alone 2. The 2004 draft class is what resurged our team. I would hate to loose both of our picks from that draft on a chance. Its like mortgaging your house in an attempt to win the lottery. Too risky
