Anyone here have any opinions about why Dempster has been so bad in the first month?

I don't know what the deal is with him, maybe he's injured

I wouldnt worry because according to the baseball expert here Captain Obvious "dempster has pitched better than his numbers".

I have to agree with Bernstein, the glove movement to prevent tipped pitches is catching up to him.

Couldn't agree more, I hate how he shuffles the glove. I always had a feeling that it would become a problem eventually.

they were talking today about angles, and specific movement of the glove now that could be being picked up by hitters. all in all either he is hurt, tipping pitches, or just sucks.

I think its more due to bad command. Not throwing strikes and when he does its right down the middle

His slider is flat right now and his splitter really isn't biting. That is why he has been so good, those pitches come out looking the same and have complete different end movements. Right now there is almost no difference.

If he finds the movement he can right the ship...... But the movement and location really need to be found and need to be found quickly.

Remember when the Cubs had Gorzo and Silva..... I miss that.

Time to move the guy..

And CO.. when he gives up 5 runs a start there's no "pitching better than his numbers".

Right now he blows. Nothing else to it.

That's because Dewey is using that out of context. I said that before his last two starts. And his advanced stats actually showed that he was better than his ERA and such showed. But yeah, he's sucked dick lately.

Dempster has one year left on his deal and is due 14 million in 2012...no one is gonna take that contract without the Cubs eating the majority of it, especially if he's not producing.

This, minus the Silva part. Dempster will be fine once he gets the movement and bite back on his secondary pitches.
