Chicago Cubs minor league manager Ryne Sandberg will be one of several candidates the team will meet with over the next 10 days, according to a major league source. Other known candidates include former Florida Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez, who will also have a meeting with Cubs general manager Jim Hendry during that same time period, according to the source.

Hendry is on record stating that there are no favorites for the job nor will there be until he completes his interview process and takes it to owner Tom Ricketts for approval.

Nah....there was no way Ricketts would give Hendry free reign

I hope we go full blown with the young rebuilding effort then..

Basically letting Hendry trade away older pieces.. (Seems to be okay at that)

Let Wilken run the show with drafting and scouting.

Why not?

Don't you think we can get someone with better team building philosophies?

Honestly?

No.

There is not a single available GM that I want. Sure if we can get Theo or something you get him, but he isn't available. Hendry IMO is a fine GM. He isnt a top tier GM, but none of those are available. He is certainly above average who has just been killed by players having terrible years and injuries.

The team is certainly being built better with Wilken (who I am a huge fan of).

I think he is great. I don't question his picks, because well he is usually right. I didnt like Colvin well was wrong on that one. While Shark hasn't turned out it was still a great pick. Everyone thought he was going football, and we didn't have a pick 2-4 it was great. Cashner has been good, thus far B Jax looks like a stud. So therefore I trust him with Simpson.

Same here..

Simpson came way out of left field.. We'll see how he does.
