While I for one don't panic after a week or 2 into the NBA season, it is now 7 games into the season and so far this is how our supposed 2 best shooters are performing

Salmons
FG: 33/100
3P: 10/37

3 good games, 4 awful games

Hinrich:
FG: 24/68
3P: 5/25

3 good games, 4 awful games

While I dont expect either to be on every game, 7 games into the season more than half the time they have had very poor shooting nights. When watching the NBA TV Fan Night stream of the game today even Kevin McHale and Dennis Scott pointed out how we are getting great looks but Salmons and Hinrich (I don't expect too much out of Pargo) just can't nail them and that if we are going to win we need to nail these shots.

Brad Miller in total his FG% isnt too bad (FG: 20/44, 3P: 2/8) it hasn't been too good either.

Pargo has been god awful (FG: 11/33, 3P: 3/11) but did anyone expect otherwise?

Is it time to worry or is it too soon? How long do we have to wait before we make a judgment on these players. I know its only been 7 games, fairly small sample size, but after the next game, our 8th for the season, we'll be almost 10% of the way through the season. Last time some of our players got off to a bad start (07-08) I had faith they would snap out of it, only to be disappointed.

We've had to fight for our victory's and 2 of our losses could've been won if either Kirk or Salmons decided to get with the program. While I'm happy we are 4-3, we cant continue to have these 2 (let alone Pargo) shoot so poorly and expect to win

well i think'd be down for trading kirk for an expiring. he's the only one i'm worried about for the reason that he's not a shooter. he's a pg. he's proved that so far. eh... the lakers will need a new pg. i'm down for trading him for shannon brown/farmar/fischer/morrison.

How wonderful it is that we picked these guys over that scrub Gordon eh?

Ok seriously, I don't think it's time to panic yet. Still too small a sample size for me. If after 10 or 12 or so games, then I'll worry. I do agree that they need to get it together though.

i'm down for keeping salmons. he's pretty much an expiring contract. kirk is on the book for a couple more years. He doesnt really seem as if he can play the 2. he can guard 2's, but he doesnt seem capable of being a scorer. For that reason, i'm down for trading him in order to open up cap room for next year. However i might wait till the trade deadline in order to build up his value. If not then, maybe we could trade him to a team that does have cap next year for a draft pick.

what can you trade any of them for. other than expiring for Kirk not much else. To be honest, Rose at times this season has shown he isnt the best at running the point and that kirk has been useful in those situations (Bobcats game for example) So I dont want Kirk gone (at least not yet). I dont want Salmons gone either. I just want both to perform to last seasons numbers or close to it

I think the biggest problem I have so far has to be the fact that both guys are missing wide open 3's. I've seen both guys set their feet with no one guarding them, and put up consistent misses. Those wide open shots are what I call "professional shots". Guys in the NBA are supposed to knock them down. Another problem I see is over passing because guys are afraid to shoot the open shot(aka Thabo syndrome). If Salmons and Hinrich try to solve their shooting problems by not shooting, it's going to really hurt our offense going forward. It's only the first month of the season, but they need to get it going pretty quickly.

I worry about Salmons for another reason. If he struggles this season, he will most likely choose to opt in for the last year of his deal. This will keep them from landing a max level free agent. Which probably means the Bulls will probably end up with either Boozer or Lee.

I just hope Salmons start shooting good enough and start playing well coz if he doesn't I always fear that he might not opt out and that would cause trouble for us as we would be short in offering Max to a player next summer.

As far as Kirk goes, I would trade him for Steven Jackson in a heartbeat - we would not lose the defense but gain a better offensive player and SJax can also play PG and is a good passer as well. I do worry about his attitude though but coming to a winning team might change a lot.

OR I would just trade Hinrich for a cheap SG who can actually Shoot and a pick from that team.

Hinrich I'm not worried about, he's shown through his career that he'll end up shooting a reasonable percentage from 3 for the season even if he'll have some good games and some bad games (like pretty much any 3 point shooter).

Salmons has no such history, last year looks like a blip. He was the biggest concern before the season started and it's really not looking good. I would not be at all surprised if he stinks all year.

Add another poor game for both players. Kirk didnt start too bad, but finished poorly. Only 90% of the season left to go. If in 4-5 games theres no sign of improvement i fear the worst

Kirk did well today, but Salmons started off passive but did alright but 5-12 fg is still 40%. Only a few more games left for him to turn it around or we should all be officially worried
