Last year lebron took Rose on and lebron’s combo of size, speed and strength showed to be a tough match up for Derrick. To improve that situation, do you know if the Bulls use Deng on Rose in practice? He’s the closest we have to mirror lebron and Deng’s defense is more than admirable.

Marcus Casas

Sam:Actually, the Bulls don’t practice much in this shortened season and as much as we love Deng, he’s no lebron. But I think the lebron stopping Rose stuff is way overrated. lebron can’t guard Rose. I’d actually like to see more isolation when Miami does that as there’s no way lebron can stay in front of Rose. You bring someone up to set a screen and then lebron can defend him better with the help. Sure, it’s a different look and something I’d do if I were Miami. But the Cavs tried that in the playoffs in 2010 and Rose didn’t have much trouble. That’s going to be the least of the Bulls concerns if they meet the Heat again.

I agree.Period.

Nobody can guard him one vs one. When everybody runs as hard as he can DRose has an extra gear to sprint. You need help to guard this player.Someone must be behind his personal guard to come for help.Him and Lebron are the most difficult to guard players. But the acceleration of Rose in the first step...My god..You can't even try to guard this.

The only way to guard Rose is to throw different bodies on him not to allow him to adjust his to the opponent and have someone behind the guard to come for help and block DRose's way.It happened last year in the ECF.That is what the Bulls MUST TRY to avoid this year having one extra player that can score to run a lot in the offense.

Lebron may not be able to completely stop Rose, but can Rose stop Lebron?

Was Sam Smith watching the ECF last season, aside from Game 1?

LeBron won't completely shut him down, but he can stop him. IMO. Yes, Rose can get by him, but he'd have a harder time with LBJ then he would say Chalmers or Cole.

In other news, grass is green and the sun is warm.

Of course he can't shut down Rose one-on-one. Nobody can. He can hold him down better than others individually but Miami plays defense as a team and naturally play a trapping style of defense. LeBron had plenty of weak-side help against Rose. Rose also was forced to put up contested shots much of the time because he couldn't afford to pass the ball to Ronnie Brewer, Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, or Carlos Boozer for obvious reasons.

This. Also, when Lebron does get beat (which is more often than Lebron lovers & the media like to admit) his incredible speed & athleticism make up for it, as he sneaks up for the strip or block from behind.

I agree with him in that.

Espn's mvp rankings are #4 Paul and #5Rose.It's hilarious. And after a game winner and a near triple double performance by DRose with 30 points they don't have even a small pic of the Bulls in their NBA home page.

So burn in hell ESPN.You and your Linsanity shit.

This.

They are determined not to talk about Rose or the Bulls. You notice how TNT does the same thing? Whenever they show Bulls highlights on Inside The NBA, they always crack some stupid joke and just laugh all the way through the highlights and never talk about it.

Then the next set of highlights, they get serious. It's annoying as hell.

What's the problem?

Uhh....

"ESPN want's LeBron to be the MVP, that's why they show a soccer highlight first"...

Yeah, I'm sure thats the reason why ESPN showed Lionel Messi's AMAZING performance with FIVE GOALS. First player EVER to score FIVE GOALS in a Champions League game.

I'm happy that Rose hit the game winner, but to say ESPN wants LeBron to win the MVP by having a soccer highlight first is just ignorant.

You know ESPN doesn't determine who the MVP is...right?

Actually they are a heavy influence in the public arena. They focus the argument by talking about only certain players and excluding other, no matter what they do. There are people who work for ESPN who have an MVP vote.

The MVP is decided on many different fronts...

Nobody complained when Ric Bucher (ESPN guy), said Derrick Rose would be MVP...IN HIS SECOND SEASON!

I believe Dr. Jack Ramsey (ESPN guy) touted a former Bull as defensive player of the year who was never in the conversation.

Simmons, and half of ESPN stated that the Bulls would win the ECF...and went on Miami's radio station to talk about it.

ESPN isn't about a Lebron bias...they are about MONEY! If tearing Lebron James down makes financial sense, they will do it. Why would they ignore the Bulls when said franchise was such a big part of ESPN rising in the 1990's?

Just as I heard Tirico say on the radio, every team's fans thinks he is biased against them...which means he is doing his job. What is sad is nobody around here remembers posters on this forum blaming ESPN, TNT, and eventually the league (commissioner and refs) for the Bulls' failures. Everyone is against the Chicago Bulls...

Nevermind the ratings TNT got off of Chicago ballgames. Never mind the emergence of a global superstar who plays with the Bulls...Jeff Van Gundy has a mad on for the Bulls...because of stuff that happened 15 years ago. I don't think so.

Who has time to trip about the Bulls not being on the NBA webpage because Rose scored 30 points and had a near triple double...against the Bucks? There are a few players in the league who are averaging damn near 30ppg! Rose gets plenty of shine...just like all the rest. He is in every NBA video montage, mentioned amongst league superstars, the Bulls have been considered one of the top teams in the league for 2 years now...why? Because it would be bad money to ignore them! So why claim that is what is happening? It makes no sense.
