What should you expect from Carlos Boozer | Blogs.Bulls.com

Everyone must read this. This is one of the best Smith articles I've read in years & speaks the 100% truth about Boozer & his role on this team.

Here are some excerpts that I enjoyed:
In both those 20/10 seasons, Boozer averaged about 35 minutes per game, far more than he plays with the Bulls. He also averaged 16 shots per game those seasons with the Jazz, almost 25 percent more shots per game than Boozer attempts with the Bulls now.

The mistake everyone makes with Boozer is the same mistake you see often in sports, and not only with fans but team managements.

They sign or trade for a player and want him to be what they need or what they want him to be rather than who he is.

If anyone is disappointed in Boozer’s production, they just didn’t pay attention to his career in Utah or who he was.

That's why it's good to really understand how a player plays, how that player was used in previous teams and systems, then equate that to how that player fits with their new team. Just purely judging off stats won't tell someone the whole story.

Well hopefully now people can see how Los fits in with this team & that he's actually doing a good job in his role. Everyone looks at the $$ & automatically deem him to be dogshit. He would've gotten that contract from the Nets too, so it was a fair market value contract. And I've told my friends this all the time, but what other former #1 option who's making $15mill would be ok with being the 3rd & sometimes 4th option on the team, as well as sit stretches in the 4th, & not protest one iota? It sucks he gets paid as much as he does, but that's water under the bridge now, & I'm totally happy with how he's been playing.

Except that he is not right about Booz.

Booz is not the same player that he was in Utah and his stats are down too.I am not a fan of criticism.I don't like this bad criticism everyone ask to Boozer and I believe he will be in good shape again soon. But he is not until now.Hopefully he starts getting solid with his mid range shoot and his pick and pop ability. He must start being more aggressive around the rim too and more concentrated in defense.I don't really care about how much this guy is paid.I would say the same even if he was paid 1$/year.Good for him that he has so big contract. And good for him that he works to be fully back after his injury. He is in a good level right now.I expect him to become the player he used to be in Utah and even better.

This video is really helpful to understand what is Boozer game lacking at both ends.

Sam hit the nail completely on the head with this article. Los is still the same player he was in Utah, but is playing in a completely different system, one where he's not leaned on to be the #1 option. He's the #3 option the majority of the time. And he is completely fine with it. He even states that this is the most talented team he's ever played on, minus the Olympics, & he doesn't feel he has to dominate the ball or the scoring. It's all about winning with this guy & I absolutely love that. But he still can, & everyone witnessed it against the Suns.

Look at his numbers again & take into account his change in minutes & shot attempts. He is right there at his career averages. Plus, he's shooting over 50%, the majority of that being 15-17 footers. His mid range game is automatic now. And he's in fantastic shape. He has much more lift on his shots, which is why he's shooting so well, and he's been much more aggressive with his rebounding now that he can actually jump again.

People need to get it out of their heads that Los will be a 20-10 guy for this team. He never will. But with so many talented players on this roster, I for one, don't feel he needs to be.

He supposed to be #2 option.

It is great thing that he never causes problem in chemistry. He is a good guy.He loves being a Bulls player.Good choice for Bulls.I don't have a problem with him.But truth to be told it's not the system that make him worse than Utah years. It is the injury. He tries to come back at same level.I accept that. But for god say he is playing less time because he was struggling in many games. Not because of the system or sth.

I pretty much agree with everything in this article. I'd love Boozer to be a 20/10 guy, but I realize he's not going to be that on a consistent basis, especially since Rose isn't the same kind of P&R player as DWill. Plus Rose is the #1 option, not Boozer. That's why I only realistically expect 15 or so points from Boozer. He's averaging less shots and less minutes than in Utah, and when guys take less shots, they score less points unless they're somehow shooting 70% from the field. I'd like to see Boozer's FG% go up a little, but around 15 ppg in about 30 minutes or less is reasonable.

I knew what we were getting, and I never expected anything more from Boozer. I just never liked the fit.

I can understand that but I don't think Lee would've been much better, though there would certainly be less bitching about his contract.

I think Lee would have been slightly better as a player and contract-wise. But he wasn't my dream pick-up, just the guy that I think would have cured the apathy of fans who were desperate to see activity from the front office.

Most of all, I didn't want a player on the decline. Lee is a few years younger, plays 2 positions, and he wouldn't have clashed with Noah so much on the floor.

not saying Boozer is a terrible passer, but Lee can pass the ball very well. So can Noah. Both of them together could have done some nice things.

Lee is a more consistent scorer, but he is not as skilled as Boozer is. Lee has a nice jumper, but no post game whatsoever.
