I'm assuming that doesn't actually work to find threads or posts in forums that are not open to the public, like tha bar, etc?

I was actually gonna ask why the search function isn't working. I was trying to find the GOT thread yesterday to bump and it took forever.

Google has different permissions than guests. So it does actually work to find more than you may suspect. Until some things are settled, the deeper search index of the site is limited. Search still works, however for the time being it only works for the last 60 days of activity. Either I reindex the entire site to work with search and we wind up with a much slower site, or deffer people to google until a long term solution is in place.

This probably all stems from Liar34's DDoS attack.

I'm not a web lord, but what about google custom search to replace the present search? Or does that cost money to use on your own site?

That's a possibility. But like I said, we're in the middle of looking for long term solutions, so this is one option that would be merely a bandaid fix. There is a lot going on, as far as stuff at the server and code level. I would rather have the internal search just work completely, and not be limited to a set number of days. Nor do I want to rely on depreciated mods that were made years ago that can break the site on certain upgrades.

All I can say is to use google from google and the "site:chicitysports.com/forum/" modifier in the query for the time being.

DDG also has the same feature. Actually, if we embed the feature, I would rather use DDG for this specific application if that were the case. *Dull explanation* Because DDG has superior privacy features and doesn't have as many issues with linked features(google accounts linked and added injected ads) therefore it will work just as good on useragent demanding browsers, as google, but works better on non-user agent defined browsers as well, keeping everything neutral but getting pretty much the same result. Basically in short, it wont ever suggest users to install chrome, or log in/link to a google account, or track and sell activity for advertisers. Someone can decide to do that on their own without us making that decision forced onto them, which retains more neutrality and compatibility.

Young e-lives matter.... thinking otherwise is how e-genocides happen, and that's the last thing anyone wants.. even mods... even tribars.
