Obviously there are bigger things on Bears' fans minds right now, but the Senior Bowl is upon us. Time to find some diamonds in the rough and to validate our opinions about our guys (or not). Here's a few takes from Tuesday, please post more:

A few player who I think will do well and or had solid days yesterday:

Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, FSU: this guy is, to me, pretty easily the top EDGE player after the big four (Thibs, Hutch, Karlaftis, Ojebo), and I would draft him over the last two based solely on tape. Dude is violent and explosive, carries way more weight that he looks, and has tremendous get off. Perhaps not quite as flexible as you'd like but he is close to the whole package. If the Bears do trade Mack he is a player to target for sure.

Chad Muma, ILB, Wyoming: Athletic, cerebral player who just gets to the ball on running plays and can carry TEs down the field. He's the whole package for an LB imo, someone who is going be productive for three downs. Not sure his best use is as 4-3 MIKE, but he could be deployed there and definitely as a nickel backer. Would pair with Roq to be among the best coverage ILBs in the league.

Jalen Tolbert, WR, S Alabama: super productive and smooth athlete who can get behind the defense. Not super explosive off the line or in his breaks, but moves with ease and changes direction effortlessly. To me a very tough cover, uses his length well at the catch point. Good fit with Fields imo. He was more of third rounder but after senior bowl I think he's more an R2 player.

Perrion Winfey, 3Tech, OU: Dude has a unique combination of length, leverage and explosion. Probably the top 3tech on the board.

Travis Jones: DT, UConn: A masher inside where he wins with power against pretty much everyone. This guy isn't going to blow up the stat sheet, but he's going to physically dominate the player in front of him, making it tough for QBs to step up and making RBs cut in the backfield routinely.

Phidarian Mathis: DT, Bama: A blend of the first two, Mathis is sort of a big 3tech on running downs and an interior rusher on passing downs. Also could play 5tech. While he doesn't really stand out at any one thing, he can win in a variety ways.

Jermaine Johnson has major upside. Definitely a top 20 pick, IMO. I think he's better than Ojabo, and he's more athletic than all the top 4 outside of Thibadeoux (sp?).

Tolbert, I don't love. Doesn't separate as much as I'd like to see. I wouldn't take him at 39. If the Bears end up with him, they will have missed out on like 9-10 better WRs, IMO.

Jones- he's the guy that most resembles Akiem Hicks to me in this class. Like most big DTs, he was misused a bit in college. I'd probably like him more as a 5-tech if the Bears still were in the 3-4, but as a 4-3 NT, he loses some luster for me. I'd love him in the 3rd round though, especially after a trade down.

Yeah Tolbert is more a player I'd take at 71, not 39.

I think Jones gets taken in the 2nd.

Two kids from Ole Miss to watch are Sam Williams and Dontario Drummond. Drummond has stud potential. The only caveat being he'll be 25 soon after going tbe juco route and ended up a redshirt senior but damn can he play after the catch and is a specimen.

Yeah, I do too. Especially after he throws guys around all week in Mobile. Also a weak DT class

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nashville Predators
  1. ETSU Buccaneers
  2. Tennessee Volunteers
So underrated. I think he's easily the best OL projected Day 3 and a guy I could 100% see winning a starting spot as a rookie despite being picked later in the draft.
Yep. Mays will show off in 1v1s. Nasty run blocker and gave up one sack and 5 pressures in 493 snaps this season

Yeah most places have Mays going R5. He was a consensus 5 star and started as a freshman for Georgia. Haven't watch his tape but he's got great pedigree.

Jermaine Johnson is the one to watch. He’s gonna shoot up draft boards. Weird path to FSU. Was buried before on UGA’s depth chart. His tape is crazy good and has massive untapped potential.

He looks better in a lot of areas than some other edge rushers that have more name recognition.

Example-Hutchinson always gets the love, and I have barely watched him play, but he was a ghost against UGA-they shut his ass down. Just a bad game or did he feast on weak OLs?

Appreciate the work OP.

Hutch is an outstanding football player. He's not as explosive as the Bosa brothers but he has enough. He's a great technician and student of the game. Also and apex leader.

Ojebo is the freak of the two. If he ever hits his ceiling it will be scary. He has Elite burst, body control and speed. Has a soccer and track background. At 6'5 235 he ran a sub 11 second 100 meter dash in highschool which is bananas.

Johnson was the ACC defensive player of the year and took over games for the Noles this year. Definitely our MVP…

Good showings from OL Zion Johnson, Abraham Lucas, and Bernard Raimann to my eyes.

Thanks for posting that!

My dudes Gray and Drummond did not look good. Gray with a nasty drop and not sure what happened with Dontario.
