I think that the Bulls are going to lose a lot of toughness (especially at that 2 spot) now that Hinrich is gone. Maybe, instead of going balls-to-the-wall for a Joe Johnson or Ray Allen, maybe the Bulls should look into a cheaper solution at SG...

I'm thinking that they should look for a young, preferrably athletic, SG- who can shoot the 3 well AND play good perimeter defense. I understand this is easier said than done.

Is Flip gonna be re-signed?

Well, the thing about Flip is that he fits more of a back-up role. I hope he does get re-signed, but I don't think he is the kind of guy that can average much upward of 20 minutes/game and be on a championship contending team. He's not very good on defense and he's not very young/athletic

I'd like him as a backup. I just heard he has nice threes.

I think if the Bulls get LeBron, they should move him to the SG and sign a guy like Morrow as a back-up. No guards in the NBA can handle LeBron... and if you look back on Championship teams, you mostly find 2 guards that are one of the best defenders at their position (with the exception of Ray Allen):

Bryant
Ginobili
Jordan
Kenny Smith
Dumars
Michael Cooper
Wade
Rip Hamilton (was up there)

I think that's a good idea. Plus Flip is just an awesome nickname.

Hinrich was tough? I don't watch much bulls action, and I will believe what you say as you watch farrrr more than I do, but from my casual observations, he sure seemed like he was the whiniest damn kid out there.

Hinrich was physically tough. He was a gritty on-ball defender. I don't think he seemed whiny to me at all... Brad Miller was the whiny, white boy of the bunch... trust me on that

He was the team Captain. You might confuse his involvment as whining, but he was a pro on and off the court.

He guarded SFs when Deng was out. That speaks miles for a 6'3" PG, because ususally a SF is the pound-for-pound all-around best athlete on the floor(basketball-wise) and Kirk would limit them a great deal.

Anyone remember that last game against Miami? Wade was beyond frustrated for 3 1/2 quarters with Kirk guarding him, and Kirk wasn't playing dirty.
The last game against Dallas? Dirk meets Kirk, and Kirk frustrated the hell out of Dirk too! Two completely different players, different sizes, and different roles. THAT is what I call versatility.

Kirk may have not been the most consistent on offense, but thats because he was putting up 110% on defensive mismatches all year long. IMO, he's the best help-defender under 6'8" in the league, and the next best guy isn't close. That's why Vinny defended him so hard against the media, as they only looked at box-scores. But anyone that watched every game, forgave him for his fumbles coming off injury, and if that person watched BOTH ends of the court in those games will tell you the same, Kirk will be severely missed.

Fair enough. I was only sharing my casual observations, which I originally conceded wasn't much.

some people think LeABron could play SG if we got him.

he came into the league as a PG. Then he moved over 2 positions to SF in his sophomore year. It's obvious to anyone who watches James play that he can play SG... lol. Hell, he played plenty of 4 with Jamario Moon on the floor with him last year, in line-ups like:

West/Mo
Parker
Moon
LeBron
Varejao/Hickson

LeBron is the only player I've ever seen who can play all 5 positions of the basketball floor very effectively (at the NBA level).

I am starting to love the idea of Raja Bell and Anthony Morrow splitting some decent time at SG.

**** Raja Bell. I don't want him. Morrow is okay, but I'd rather get Reddick than Bell.

What about Kyle Korver, he could fill in some minutes.

not at SG I don't think. He's as unathletic as it gets by perimeter player standards

Yeah I feel ya, but if we could get him, I think he could be our shooter that we need, I'd go for Redick before him, but he's not a bad consolation prize.
