This game was pretty good. It's like Assassin's Creed but with better combat. The combat is actually like a glorified button masher, but it works and is fun. There's also a pretty unique nemesis system where the bad guys (orcs) compete with each other to become chiefs, and if they kill you, they rise in rank and become stronger, and will try to hunt you down, taunt you, etc. I'm really simplifying it with that description, but I've never seen it before in a game and it was pretty well implemented. My only beef with the game was that there were some pretty anti-climactic moments that seemed really out of place with the rest of the game.

I don't follow LOTR, so I don't know if it ties in with the trilogy, but I'm pretty sure it's a stand alone story. As far as online modes, I believe you can compete for most kills, fastest times, etc. You can also avenge deaths of people on your friends list.

thanks... i forgot who described it as batman combat in the what are you playing now thread, but ill pass for now.. im not in the mood for button mashing.. the first two rocksteady batmans wore me out on it.. so much so i didnt get into origins.. and its been a couple of years now...i guess ill push this game off for awhile longer..

Button masher is a poor description. There is an extensive combo system that can get pretty intricate. It IS similar to batman combat but with much, much more depth. If you are just mashing buttons, you need to turn the difficulty up.

And its way, way more violent than batman combat. Like fucking intense violence. And the combat has weight. You feel it. Very satisfying.

To describe the game, it sounds pretty meh imo. But its so well executed, so fast paced and meaty that imo it is surprisingly a very good game.

I liked it. Bot provides a decent description of the combat. Honestly, there is very little to complain about in this game (which is more than can be said about most).

Yeah, there isn't much new in Mordor (besides the nemesis system) but what the game does is executed so well that its very fun imo.

thanks for the info guys.. i got the game since it was dirt cheap. but im in the mood for something else at the moment.. from what you guys say about shadows and what ive read elsewhere... its fun and worth a play... idk.. ive been able to get some league games in risk in finally but the only problem with it is the amount of time a game can take playing against good peeps. its a good late night game in case a game goes on for hours and i dont need to put it down or walk away..
