Remember when Shaw kind of had that dirty hit late in the game against the Sharks? And Clowe took exception? It doesn't appear as if Clowe was being an active part of line change with 10 seconds left in the game.

If the league finds Clowe improperly left the bench to go after Shaw, it could mean a 10-game suspension. There could also be lesser supplementary discipline if the league determines it was part of a line change. The fact the NHL is reviewing what happened was first reported by Bob McKenzie of TSN.

From the looks of this clip, courtesy CSN Chicago, Clowe is in serious trouble:

According to Darren Dreger, the NHL has offered Clowe an in-person hearing. That's standard procedure for suspensions over 5 games, which isn't a good sign for Clowe or for the Sharks, who definitely don't need this right now.

Really stupid and dangerous hit by Shaw but a dumber move by Clowe to leave the bench. Just can't do it, that's been a rule for a long time.

Yeah for not being in play, it probably is. Maybe they gave a smaller suspension because Shaw's hit was nasty and instead didn't suspend him. That the case? Probably not, but who knows the reasoning then.

Clowe always does dumb stuff on the bench. But it did win his team a game against the Kings last year when he broke up a breakaway chillin on the bench. Other words, I wonder how mad the Western Conference is getting watching the Hawks roll in the win column. I feel like even the bottom feeders are going to fight us harder to prove themselves. I do see a possibly injury to our stars because of this. Since they are going to try and take us down at ANY cost to give us our first regulation L
