I don't understand why people like him. He can't skate, he sucks defensively and he needs 20 feet of space to get his shot off.

Let some other team over pay for his ass

Um, because he's not a pussy to go in front of the net like Bickell.

So he is inept at all other facets of the game, but you like him because he goes to the net.

The Blackhawks can find someone for cheaper who is actually good in front of the net.

It all basically comes down to how many slots are open on the bottom 2 lines.

If, as another poster mentioned in the Stalberg thread, that Smith, Krueger, and Morin are ready, there are slots to accomodate them, it then comes down to money and a potentially significantly reduced amount of ice time. Is that something Kopecky would want? Personally I think he will probably sign elsewhere as someone out there will offer him more money than the Hawks will be willing to - based upon my take on the Hawks' depth chart.

However, that isn't to say that imo Kopecky is a valuable depth guy - that being said, I don't think anyone was saying he is another coming of Wayne Gretzky or Mike Bossy ... although he does appear to be smart enough to be able to feed the puck to Hossa, at least, when they've been linemates (you'd be surprised how many forwards can't work that one out).

However since this is a personal question - in my lineup building exercise - he doesn't have a spot, unless he wants to sign for cheap, which I doubt, his version of signing for cheap would match mine. :)

This was a career season for him, if I remember correctly. Is he looking to get paid or comfort to stay with his homeboy?

We definitely need some new faces, but I'd be okay with a Pecker return for the right price.
