Obviously one of the biggest arguments on this board has been how much money the Cubs are going to spend this offseason. Some believe they can afford to go out and sign half the baseball world. Others believe they can't afford even a single guy.

So, just for fun, here are the free agent contract guesses that SI got from a team executive and a couple of agents.

Carl Crawford, Cliff Lee will be top MLB free agents this winter - Jon Heyman - SI.com

On Adam Dunn (Mr. Controversy around here)

Executive: $60 million, four years. Agent 1: $25 million, 2 years. Agent 2: $42 million, 3 years. Me: $25 million, two years.

Victor Martinez
Executive: $48 million, four years. Agent 1: $60 million, 4 years. Me: $36 million, three years.

Carlos Pena

Executive: $36 million, 3 years. Agent 1: $33 million, 3 years. Agent: Me: $20 million, two years.

Orlando Hudson

Executive $12 million, 2 years. Agent 1: $12 million, 2 years. Agent 2: $4 million, 1 year Me: $6 million, 1 year.

You can read the others. Hudson is certainly the most interesting, as the guesses there make him affordable even for the Cubs.

The Dunn guesses remain as across the board as the ones posted here.

Hudson for 2 years at 12M. I say NO if that's what he's going to get. If I had to choose one for those prices mention above, I would take Pena.

I want no part of Hudson, his whole year has been based around the 2nd highest UZR, which I am sure will go down. He'll also be 33 next year. His ISO and SLG are also the worst of his career. I'm fine with DeWitt at 2B for next year.

Hak-Ju for SS, Starlin for 2B. Obviously not out of ST, but I think that may be the case by the end of next year or, more likely, the following year. DeWitt blows.

I agree, I don't really want Hudson.

That would be pretty cool but I don't see it happening. A 20 year old SS and a 21 year old 2B would be awesome.

OK I see it now. Maybe a Sep. call-up for them to get practice as a DP combo. Only if the Cubs are out. Like I said already, I would love that. Also, it depends on his year in the minors. I see him starting the 2011 season at Daytona or Tenn. Probably Daytona but Tenn would be better in preparation.

You realize that Lee will only be in High-A next season right? That he's young as hell, and his bat isn't CLOSE to good enough to advance through the system like Castro.

His glove is supposed to be great, but he's far from polished there either. End of 2012 is even optimistic for Lee IMO, I'd guess closer to sometime in 2013, and that assumes he continues to progress like he has been.

I know, I acknowledged how unrealistic next year was.

If the Cubs are out, why not call him up? I would be sick in tire of seeing Barney Baker (most likely won't be on the team next year anyways), Barney (I don't mind him), Scales. I know it's unrealistic but I can still dream.
