Since when can teams make trades during the playoffs? Is this a new COVID rule or have I just lost to many brain cells from drinking?
The trade cut off line is week 8. Is it reistablished once the playoffs start? Are teams in contention excluded? I assume so.
I never remember trades before the next season starts in the past. Maybe this is one of those mandela effect experiences and the past just changed.
I know I could just look it up but seriously wanted to see if anyone else had the same thought.

I believe nothing is official, and it's really just handshakes only at this point. It's a way to decrease pressure and stop the phone calls.

This^ it basically started when the Kansas City agreed to trade Alex Smith before the league year a couple of years ago. Basically the deal is in place but doesn’t become official until the league year officially opens in March. They have gotten more and more lenient on it recently. NFL loves to dominate the news cycle.

That makes sense. Now I remember they used to stress that the trades were not official yet but I'm hearing that anymore.
