I guess this is a gold mine to some perverts .
The last 45 seconds was informational. The front end of this was as Mass explained-- scare tactics.
I'm a bit surprised they didn't show a picture of a threatening, naked man with an erect penis walking into Chuck-E-Cheese with a laptop locating his next lunch rape date.
i didn't watch the vid or read the links, it's been out there for several years that when you snap a cell/smartphone pic your info is embedded. This isn't really news to anyone is it?
It's all about trying to hyper blast something to get attention here, with anything something bad can come out of it. IMO this stuff coming back up is just someone who is trying to scream pay attention to me.

Paint me ignorant then. I never knew this nor that I have an option to turn it off or how to turn it off. Secondly, I have a Droid and after watching this I still can not figure how to turn it off.
yes, lots of data about your phone and the picture and such has always been in the picture, this new scare here is that they are embedding detailed GPS location data and people are using it in very nefarious ways to completely track and stalk others, the kick here is they made it a 100 percent pedophilia scare tactic when I can think of about 20 other reasons it could be dangerous. The new info is old but not as old as people digging information out of pictures.
Hahah usually it's in the settings of the camera. I have an Evo so i don't think I can help unless your android version matches mine? On a side note, I also didn't mean to come off as a jerk in this thread if I did. It wasn't meant to be an attack on you as much as the sentimentalization and over dramatization of the story for ratings out of a news service.
ironically I too have an Evo and I think the GPS info has been in there for at least a year if not more? No surprise creeps are using it for their benefit and the "news" is sensationalizing it

Where is this being sensationalized? This is the first I had heard of the tracking by pictures posted and sent. I certainly don't the story referenced did so. I think they make a valid point to its use by others with criminal intent. As I said before, the crooks are always ahead of us average folks in knowing the illegal ways to get things.
