Since you were there and all how was the energy and the PUMPED UP crowd? How long did you stay after they won? Did you flip any cars downtown?

Give us the deets, homie.

4:30: Left work from Downers Grove.
5:15: Tornado sirens go off in Lagrange Park. Darkness everywhere. The presence of Victor Hedman was trying to infiltrate the area. Little success.
5:45: Parked at the lot on Damen/Madison. Raining like hell. Huge flooding all along Madison.
5:55: Entered the UC.
6:00: Bought a pulled pork sammich and shared it with the wife. Coca Cola preferred beverage. Didn't want alcohol hazing my evening.
6:30: Got to my seat.
6:45: Light out. Light show.
7:02: Anthem. The barn is the loudest I have ever remembered it being.
Period One: Stamkos almost makes it 1-0 Tampa, but the post says "no." Blackhawks are all over them. Bishop isn't responding well. Goes down, has a hard time getting back on his skates.
Period Two: One minute in, Stamkos has a breakaway and fails. the entire stadium erupts. 3 minutes left in the period, Keith turns the place into bedlam. Seabrook nearly doubles that with a post shot. I thought it went in and I felt like I jumped 5 rows forward. I didn't hear the clank of the iron until I heard it on the replay. 1-0 after 2.
Period 3: Hawks gum up the neutral zone. Playing it perfect. Stamkos getting rattled. 5 minutes left, Kane puts the cherry on top. Demons are exorcised. Jesus walks on wine. Tampa looks deflated. 3 minutes to go. I'm still freaking out in my seat, because we all know Tampa can score quickly. PP Tampa. They don't convert with Bishop pulled, and can't seem to enter the zone. As time ticks down, I finally feel a sense of relief as the clock winds under 45 seconds, but still an eternity. Hawks clear the zone with under 8 seconds. The crowd counts down "5,4,3,2,1......"

Elation.

Keith wins Smythe.
Cup is delayed.... then presented. Old men are crying.

I stay and hang out with old IHN members in the 300 level until 11:30, when security ushers us out.
We head to the 100 level to take more photos.
12:05: We leave the UC. Fans all over the place and a heavy police presence.
12:15: I get to my car and some homeless dude is talking trash. I just tell him "Hawks won the Cup. You can't ruin my night.
1:00 Steak and Shake. Yup. Steak and Shake.
2:00 I head home to Aurora.
2:30: Watch highlights and chat with Rex until I drift off to sleep at 3:30.

Only happy dreams, one of which became a reality at the UC.

I get the impression that you go to the United Center quite often. Is this true? If so, how loud was it compared to other games you've attended?

Glad you had fun BTW.

The anthem was around 7:15.

You didn't really go, did you?

My watch is on Canadian time.
Thanks Rex.

I remember game 4 in 2002 against the Blues being very loud, along with game 1 in the Final versus Boston.

My wife shielding my ugly mug with our umbrella giveaway from a few years back.

Oh, the old broken umbrella trick. Well played, sir, well played.

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate

...

I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Tsar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain

I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank

...

I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
(Woo woo, woo woo)

I shouted out,
Who killed the Kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
(Who who, who who)

Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
(Woo woo, who who)
