So how do we fix the pass rush and the run defense?

It is true. But why have forums then. Should we all just unregister now?

Rush would lobby George McCaskey at that point

With six sacks through four games, the Bears rank 30th in the NFL. Only the winless Steelers and Giants, with four each, have fewer.

Only five teams have allowed more than the 114 points surrendered by the Bears to this point. Yes, opponents have returned two Cutler fumbles for touchdowns, including the Lions' Nick Fairley, and there was the Vikings' Cordarrelle Patterson's kickoff return, so it's not all on the defense. But you have to go back to 2003 — the year before Lovie Smith's arrival — when the Bears allowed more points through the first four games (132).

The defense has allowed 21 passes of 20 yards or more after giving up only 47 all last season, big plays the Cover-2 scheme should help reduce.

I'd like to see us get some Beefy DT's in next year's draft, or even soon in free agency if we keep getting gashed like this. Like Keith Traylor and Ted Washington used to be. Some big 340 pounders up in there. Or at least over 300 pounds. Sick of the undersized DT's we always seem to have.

Do you guys realize that our defense only gave up 3 points in the second half?

3 of their touchdowns were

1 play 2 yards touchdown (intercepted pass returned to our 2 yard line)

4 plays 22 yards touchdown

2 plays 51 yards touchdown(Reggie Bush/ 2 missed tackles on this play)

Third down efficiency 2/10

They had 3 long drives that all resulted in field goals
8 plays 61 yards
11 plays 78 yards
8 plays 56 yards!

Yes it sucked that we lost and there are people who say our defense sucks, no pressure, too old, too slow, no "PEP" in their steps etc.....

I say the defense did it's job with what it had to work with.
Stafford fumbled on the goal line it bounced right back to him.
Bush fumbles, bounces right to Calvin Johnson.

Special Teams gave up 3 points on a shitty Punt by PODLESS and bad coverage
Jay Cutler gave up 7 points on the fumble( Looked like a missed block from Garza/Long)
A few bad picks one returned to the 2 yard

So with Detroit starting drive at the BEARS:
2 yard line
31 yard line
22 yard line

and at least 4 or 5 past their own 40 yard line!!!!

It's in the details people!!!

I agree DET got some 'lucky' bounces, but if you look further in the details, CHI got it's fair share of 'lucky' bounces like when Hester fumbled on the return and somehow CHI recovered. Also, that fumble from Wootton on Bell was complete dumb luck. Oh, and then's there's the freak deflection off of Calvin's leg that led to an INT inside the Redzone... shall I go further?

IMO, it kind of evened out in that game.

I would say theirs were "more lucky." Doesn't matter. It happens. But theirs were the kind of bounces that got them TD's (or close to it). Ours got us the ball at our own 20. That bounce off Johnson, their RB made a great play, tackling 2 BEARS. That tackle isn't made, we get a freak touchdown. Wasn't to be today.

Start Bostc at nose tackle? J/k, but I wonder if they are thinking of switching to a 3-4. McClellan will not be serviceable in the 4-3.

Let's go into rebuild mode on D just so we can justify the mcclellin pick. Yeaahhhhhhhh

I hope we are planning on some kind of rebuilding. Lach is gone, Tillman, Peppers and Briggs aren't getting younger. I can't really pick out one young player on the defense that I would consider a rising star....

I vote rebuild as well. Screw ole's sarcasm - we actually do need a rebuild on the D, at least with regards to upgrading both DT and Safety spots.

What Phil did to the offense he needs to do to the defense.

We look undersized and old and that can only be solved in the draft and free agency.

And Screw your emotional extremism. We still lead the league in takeaways and changing the scheme is not going to solve problems in execution and personnel magically.

Same people who assume joe anderson will be a great receiver just because he has no stats: any change must be good, right?

Go start another thinly veiled flame-baiting thread

All the lucky bounces went their way today..Case in point the Stafford fumble in the end zone...We usually come away with those..Today we didn't...Shit happens
