So how do we fix the pass rush and the run defense?

I just don't think we have the personnel to run this scheme. We are getting no penetration from the DL vs. the pass, and they are getting pushed around vs. the run. The linebackers are playing way too shallow to help support the run, and the middle of the field is open all day long.

And Screw your emotional extremism. We still lead the league in takeaways and changing the scheme is not going to solve problems in execution and personnel magically.

Same people who assume joe anderson will be a great receiver just because he has no stats: any change must be good, right?

Go start another thinly veiled flame-baiting thread

Don't change the scheme but we are seeing the decline that we were afraid of.

We need a replacement for Peppers, depth inside and someone to replace Tillman after 2014.

We could use a bigger player to take over for Jennings and possibly some competition at Safety.

Why do we have to rebuild? Good teams reload...rebuild implies a period of shittiness. Don't think Emery is down with shittiness.

And you think we have the personnel to run a 3-4? Lol

Oh bite me. And Windy right above your last post is right. We look old and undersized. Beef up the middle a bit and continue to preach takeaways.

According to Windy City Warrior, I think, we could run a 3-4 right now if we use a 1 gap system. Couple of windy's in here, referring to the one who played for Trestman up in Canada.

To me it feels like we are in a period of shittiness. We can't live by turnovers, not in the playoffs against good teams.

Like i've been saying since week 1, i expected our d to be worse than it has been but i didn't think it would come down to lack if execution. I just don't see the 3-4 as the magic bromide many do here just because it's on the other side of the fence

You are getting back to your trolling ways. Keep my name out of your bitchy mouth and we'll have no problem

Only reason I favor the 3-4 right now (one gap) is because we don't have a DT worth a damn anyway so what's one less of them up on the line? :p

Actually, you're the one who's been getting all emo and bitchy lately. Right now I am just chalking it up to the loss. Hoping you calm the **** down after a good nights rest, cause I have no beef with you, even if you've been a bit chirpy today - we all have our moods after a loss like that.

And FYI, my "screw your sarcasm comment" was meant tongue-in-cheek.

With the exception of the turnovers, I have not been impressed with the d this year. They have been bailed out by special teams and the offense. Good teams will not turn the ball over.

Well from what it looks like the answer to the pass rush problem for this year is going to be blitzing. That's the best we can do thus far. Hope things change in that regard.

And we can't even blitz right, yet again.

Whether you call it a one gap 3-4 or a one gap 4-3, you are just moving around chairs on the deck of the Titanic. From what I can tell, the TOs are coming when we get pressure by blitzing. We just need to stop pussy footing around and accept we are a blitz heavy team.

What Phil did to the offense he needs to do to the defense.

We look undersized and old and that can only be solved in the draft and free agency.

I think you might be onto something...

I don't know what the solution is, don't even know if there is one but something has to be done with this defense or we are in a lot of trouble this year. Tillman being hurt isn't helping things either but then again even a healthy Tillman isn't enough to fix our defenses problems.

Why does everyone assume a 3-4 is going to be better? We're not playing in our 4-3 (which is old hat to these guys), so switching to a 3-4 is going to make us better?? WTF? It's like Ole or whomever wrote, different must always be better, huh. They're not going to switch fucking defenses for superstar Shea McClellin. Get that out of your heads.

You don't switch D's midway through the season. I wouldn't mind seeing them have 99 doing more of a rover thing instead of his non-existant hand in the dirt imitation. They talked about doing that this year....even did it in the pre-season, I think. He still probably won't do produce, but it'd be nice to see it tried.
