Came home, basement flooded. Have a sump-pump...but apparently the pipes on the pump had separated, and I literally had a majestic water fountain in my basement. :bigfinger:

what a mess. grrr.....

Ok, carry on.

Thanks fellas. I've elected to not let it ruin my week. Was at a cousin's wedding today, then the reception and hanging out w/ family...and golfing tomorrow...so there's some positives about the weekend regardless. I got the majority of the water cleaned up -- but the mess ruined some of my scrap wood that I build random stuff w/...no biggie...to the burn pile and i'll stockpile some more. I duct-taped the hell out of the two pipes, tested it several times, and it's sufficient in the short term -- just gotta get some PVC glue I believe -- which I should be able to do on Monday. It's a pain in the ass -- but fixable.

I know what you mean, man... It's happened in my basement a few times over the years. We've had a lot of things ruined... Books, pictures, furniture, my sisters guitars and amps, some shoes, a wine fridge, etc.

We've got a sump pump too.... it just happens sometimes randomly. We just keep important things elevated now hahaha

Does your basement smell terrible too now?

Where do you live?

I know we had a storm Friday Night and the only thing I heard was wind damage and power outages?

Interesting there was a time when basements were just that. Nowadays they're 2nd living rooms.

sucks, man, hope you can clean it up easily. When we were looking 3 years ago, we almost took a place that had a sump-pump in a basement that the sellers had basically converted to an entire 2-bedroom level of the house (fully carpeted, too). We passed. Nothing personal, but I'm glad we did. Heard a story about the city being total bitches if you get root damage to your pipes too from trees that abut the sidewalk.

That part of the basement was unfinished, indeed. I use it as a workshop for little things to tinker with, but luckily none of the water made it to my tools.

Nah, I worked most of that night to get the water cleaned up -- duct-taped the shit out of the pipe as a quick fix...worked quite a bit yesterday morning trying to dry it out as well.

It's pretty much cleaned up now. Ruined all of my scrap wood and some other little things - but nothing too damaging. Started a fire at 9am yesterday, and its still going strong - lol.
