Way to be a bunch of dicks Delta. Well we now those fees will be refunded now that the press knows about it. Unless they want a big chunk taken out of their business.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Personally, I say screw all the airlines that charge any fees for more than 1 carrion and 1 checked bag per person--domestic or international.

Man, I hope no one's bringing that onto planes...

I'm not trying to underrate what our soldiers do for this country - but Delta is a privately owned business, is it not?

I put the blame equally on our government as any costs incurred the government should take care of up front. I mean you cant expect delta to tote around our entire armed forces for free, but also in this case it seems like a rather ludicrous cost.

Whenever i travelled in the Army I didnt even need money, never got a bill for anything, it was all taken care of up front. That and I would abuse the USO at airports for free hotdogs.

Well...I have been hit with fees before when we brought more crap that we were supposed to on a charter back to the states. Last time was in '97 coming back from Egypt. Just brought more that the ATA allowance in weight, even though my orders stated what I had to bring back. Kind of a catch 22....

....however, if your orders state one thing and the company\DOD policy another then you have to take it up with your unit or the DOD to compensate the difference. That is all I ever did rather than try to use the 'Hey I am in the Military, give me all of your respects, women, and booze" mentality that tends to happen.

Perhaps if these honorable soldiers could have contacted their chain of command for clarification or spoke to a higher up before running to the public. Given that this was most likely a charter, and with the long layover, there would have been ample time to sort it all out....as I have experienced before.

So instead of Donut Dollies they're Hot Dog Hussies now. Isn't that why they exist in the first place? To provide service and comfort to Military personnel.

Why don’t presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor?

Well if the airline has a policy for 3 bags for military personnel... follow it, that's what policies are for. Those soldiers should go cry to their organization for reimbursement.

I'm with TSD... it's not up to a specific airline to waive all fees and carry around military personnel for free. Policies are policies.

And it is entirely possible that those that cut the travel orders really thought that they could have brought 4 bags without double-checking...or that someone from Delta committed to 4 bags but never conveyed that through their chain.

To me there was a mix up on some side or the other. I would have preferred that these soldiers use their chain rather than feel entitled and spew this out on youtube. Hell they just came from a combat zone (perhaps), and should know better and things can and will get miscommunicated or mixed up.

The video was removed by the user, not fox news. Was Fox the one who posted it for their site?
